HF Habs: The official 2023-2024 tank thread

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Once they move this team will start making noise. I dont care what anyone says about these players being Pro etc... theyre kids who have worked their entire lives to make it to the NHL, and they are stuck in a city that has no interest with them, playing out of a 5000 seat college rink... they must be miserable..

I would say its similar to a baseball player being drafted by the Expos during the Loria era.

Any of the dmen would fit them. They've got so much cap space and they have 20 picks in the first 3 rounds throughout the next 3 years. Assuming the new owner isn't a cheapskate, they have all the ammo to become a very good team as early as next year.

So final games are:

Montreal @ Ottawa (Saturday)
Montreal @ Detroit (Monday)
Montreal vs Detroit (Tuesday)

Coyotes @ Flames (Sunday)
Coyotes vs Oilers (Wednesday)

Senators vs Canadiens (Saturday)
Senators @ Rangers (Monday)
Senators @ Bruins (Tuesday)

Yeah, we'll need to lose to Sens, because I don't think they're getting a point in their final 2 games, and I expect Montreal to split their series with Detroit.

A loss against Ottawa and a single OT loss against Detroit nearly guarantees 5th last before lottery, Arizona would just need 1 more point. That's 3 points out of a possible 6 so things are looking ok, but the Ottawa game is the biggie.

Bruins and NYR wont show up and will likely rest players.

Detroit should be a harder opponent to beat.

I said before it was silly to expect us to win all our games and expect others to lose all their games and us beating them fair and square since we don't have the tie break on anyone.

Keller with a goal & 3a. I did not have Arizona destroying Nashville in my playbook tonight. The other teams wont lose all their games. Like us some teams wont show up against them.

we can easily still get 7th - tomorrow is a huge must lose to hope for 5.

Yes i never denied that but 2 weeks ago people were talking about 11th like real 11th not 9th and you lose 2 spots but 11th before the lottery. It was honestly silly since we don't have the tie break and our last 10 games record was not better than the teams in front of us.
