Good news is if Montreal does happen to beat Ottawa in regulation, we won't fall lower than 6th.

If we beat Ottawa in OT/SO, we actually stay in 5th. All of Montreal, Ottawa and Arizona will be tied at 75 pts with everyone playing 80 games. Standings will be: 5. Montreal; 6. Ottawa; 7. Arizona.

Calgary is now leading 4-0, so they'll be up on Montreal by 4 pts and that should do it. They're no longer a threat to be overtaken by Habs.

Not surprised by how tanking and Coyotes are mutually exclusive.

Their head coach André Tourigny is a regular contributor to BPM and he's not only a stand-up guy, but brutally honest on how he doesn't give 2 craps about upsetting management or winning meaningless games that could jeopardize a better draft rank.

And here he is coaching his team exactly as he said he would and expecting them to give their all.

Coyotes are pretty talented tbh.
They do have some good skill up front. Keller is a PPG player, Schmaltz is a great player, Cooley is having an excellent rookie year, Guenther looks like a very good player, Crouse is an impactful 2nd liner, Maccelli is a high end playmaker, then you have solid depth guys in Bjugstad and Kerfoot. Ingram has been good this year and Vejmelka more often than not is doing an above average job. You're just not going anywhere if Sean Durzi is your #1 dman. It's why I have a very hard time seeing them draft a forward with their first, especially when they just drafted But and Geekie as well. Their only worthwhile dman prospect is Simashev.

I feel like Arizona still tries most of the time unlike the Sens. They just have a very unskilled roster, I mean look at that defense lol.
They are very similarly built to the Habs, in fact, their offense is probably more skilled than the Habs with no Dach or Monahan. Vejmelka is a solid goalie too like Monty. That defense might be the worst in NHL history.
Tourigny seems to do a really good job over there. Would be surprised if he never ends up in Montreal.

Flames up 4-0, we aren't catching them. Realistically, if we lose in regulation tomorrow we are going to be drafting 5th. We would have to win both games against the Wings while the Sens lose both which is unrealistic, and we'd need 3 out of 4 points against the Wings with the Yotes losing both which is also unrealistic.

I see them taking Silayev, and it will be a great pick..
Once they move this team will start making noise. I dont care what anyone says about these players being Pro etc... theyre kids who have worked their entire lives to make it to the NHL, and they are stuck in a city that has no interest with them, playing out of a 5000 seat college rink... they must be miserable..

I would say its similar to a baseball player being drafted by the Expos during the Loria era. MTL had the chance with Windsor station Land, it was perfect - but as per usual qc politics were at play much the way Glendale city council is.

Same with Quebec City, you think the NHL wants to go there? Small town, qc politics, consortium, tiny market, etc...

People forget Lindros refused to play there (for those reasons), they lost their team for lack of support.. it's not an arena that brings in the revenue.. 29/32 gms vote nay.
