Only game of significance:

- ARI win vs. EDM: ARI win moves them 2 pts ahead. MTL will have 1 game in hand.
- CGY win vs. ANA

*ARI needs to get at least a point to stay ahead of MTL. Because if they lose in regulation, MTL will move ahead. ARI and MTL are both tied at 73 pts. But after tonight, MTL will have a game in hand and because of that, MTL will be ahead of ARI.*

*If CGY wins, it makes it harder for MTL to pass them. Mathematically they still can pass them. But chances are they won't. Habs will need to win all 3 of their final games while CGY loses all of theirs.*

Freaking Calgary......They will suck balls next season. I have little hope of them finishing between 11th-15th worse. They are definitely picking in the Top 10 next season. That 1st pick will be in the late 20's (Florida).

We have to best Calgary's final record by 3 pts, Ottawa's by 2 an Arizona's by 1 thanks to that tie breaker.

Saturday is just massive, if we lose, then it's a 4 pt cushion by Ottawa, and any combition of Ottawa gaining a point or us losing a point in the final 2 games would make it mathematically impossible we pass them.

Yup, biggest tank game of the season.

Also Calgary plays Arizona on Sunday. So one team is guaranteed 2 points.

Honestly, going into the game, I fully expected a win so I’m thankful we only got a loser point out of this. Zero would had been better but I had no faith in the Islanders.
The Isles are in a world of hurt in the future. Their absolute best is mediocre and they are filled with bloated long-term contracts with nothing in the pipeline to help.

We really pissed away two absolute miracle wins by Arizona and Ottawa against the Canucks and Lighting by getting another loser point. Cause you know damn well we'll finish these last games strong, and blowout Detroit at home.

Detroit at home is a guaranteed win. No way the team loses at the Bell Centre. Watching them against the Isles though, they don't seem motivated at all on the road. They just need to lose against Ottawa and once against Detroit.

well the Islanders I think are in a great position now, should make it to be honest. I prefer Pittsburgh making it to play the Bruins or Rangers
Also, for the Jets pick, em8f the Jets don't make the conference final, for every team that finished below them in the standings that makes the conference finals, the pick moves up by 1.

So yeah, I definitely want the best two teams out of Pittsburgh, NYI, Caps, and Wings to make the playoffs and then make the conference finals. I'll also be rooting for Tampa and .... the Leafs!

Why do you want Detroit to miss the playoffs, and Pittsburgh, Washington, or NYI make it?
For me personally seeing Detroit make 0 moves at the TDL despite being in the playoff race for 2 years in a row kind of makes me want to see them miss out. They didn't have to go out and pay a 1st round pick for a star, but get a little extra depth to give the team a little something. I know they signed Kane and that's in the right vein, but they should have done more.

Not sure if we will have the “critical mass” to actually compete but a guaranteed top10 pick and Slafkovsky’s massive glow-up means this has been a tolerable (and hopefully final) explicit tank season.

CGY are only 2 points ahead and playing like absolute trash lately (2-8 in their last 10)
we can DEFINITELY still pass them.

Based on goal differential...we are slotted where we should be and hope we can stay!
We would get away with it too if it wasn't for Marty and those meddling kids!

Why? It’s all about the lottery ball now - 5OA or 6OA makes zero difference, it’s a crapshoot after 1OA
The lower you finish the better the chances to win the 1st overall. Also there's value in having the 2nd overall as you can chose whoever you want in the next wave. At 5th you have 17.1% chances to win the 1st or 2nd overall pick. At 7th you have 13.2% chances. I'd rather have 17.1% chances personally.
