But at some point, the team will need to progress and get to that no man's land spot before being a playoff team and eventually (and hopefully) be a cup contender. It won't be from the bottom of the standings to suddenly playoffs. Okay, it could potentially happen, but we shouldn't expect that.
Absolutely and I can’t wait to see Habs nation reaction to that season

If we have a bunch of youngsters that are progressing, I have no problem being in no man land. I doubt any Habs fan has.
However if we are in no man land because Anderson, Gallagher, Armia are having resurgence, then the reactions you are referring to would be justified.

Everyone will be happy and trilled. There's a massive difference between being in no man's land with a young team and being in no man's land with a team of vets. As long as our position in no man's land is because of kids instead of vets nobody will have any issue with it.

@Nicko999 @LaP We’ve been around long enough to know that the majority of the fanbase (think pretty much anywhere other than here in our cocoon named after the love of rating prospects) will want « results » and « points » very soon. What’s it been? Three season’s now, counting the dreadful last Bergy year…

I’m all in for this rebuild don’t get me wrong, I can just imagine watching the fanbase tear itself apart when they realize it might take another two seasons before they see the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure 75% will be unhappy. Those that want to see the playoffs will be unhappy because we will won't make them, those that think we need to tank more will also be unhappy because we aren't tanking/rebuilding right.

And no matter how well our vets like Armia or Anderson play they wouldn't be the reason, but it won't stop people complaining that they are.
