HF Habs: The official 2023-2024 tank thread

Adding Dach and a ufa player won't make us automatically a playoff team. New jersey and NYI can't make it this year. What chance do we have? I can see us in the same position as Pittsburgh and Caps next season. Another top 10-13 pick in 2025.

We probably push for a playoff spot in the season of 2025-2026 with Reinbacher and the 2024 draft pick with the Habs.

NJD have lost their #1Dman, D group as a whole is porous, and have no G comparable to Montembeault. Isles are simply too slow a team

Desired results for tonight:

- MTL reg. loss vs. ARI: ARI moves 1 pt ahead of MTL with a regulation win with 1 game in hand.

- OTT win vs. NSH: OTT win + MTL reg. loss = OTT moves 3 pts ahead with 2 games in hand.
- BUF win vs. FLA: BUF win + MTL reg. loss = BUF moves 8 pts ahead.

Teams that already have a cushion:

- PIT win vs. VAN: PIT win + MTL reg. loss = PIT moves 10 pts ahead.
- CGY win vs. LAK: CGY win + MTL reg. loss = CGY moves 11 pts ahead.
- MIN win vs. CAR: MIN win + MTL reg. loss = MIN moves 12 pts ahead.
- STL win vs. WPG: STL win + MTL reg. loss = STL moves 14 pts ahead.
- NJD win vs. SJS: NJD win + MTL reg. loss = NJD move 12 pts ahead.

*With a regulation loss, MTL ends up in 28th place (Bottom-5). OTT and BUF with a chance to create some more separation with wins and a MTL regulation loss. However, with a win + OTT losing in regulation, MTL moves up to 27th place.*

Huge night for the tank! if we can just lose this one and help Arizona get thier MOJO back it will be massive for the rest of the season.

I'm scared... but man i am praying for a solid 6-5 regulation loss where the top line continues their doninace and all get multiple points, but the team loses and doesn't gain any points in the standings...

There's bad takes and then there's delete your account and move to siberia takes.

I'm all for the tank but i think this is a game i'd like us to win. The schedule for the next 3-4 weeks is BRUTAL. Going into this on a losing streak is not ideal for the moral of the players. There will be plenty of L in the upcoming weeks having a W tonight would not be that big of a deal.
