As far as my understanding - We will get FLA pick not CGY so mid/late 20s more like it.I don't understand why people don't like our position.
We are 12-8-5 with Montembeault in net. Not playing Montembeault more this year is the right call but he'll play more next season. With Dach back form his injury i think we'll fight for a playoffs spot next season. Cool thing is we will have lot of picks. Even if we draft lower in 2025 we still got Pens 2nd round pick which should be relatively high and i think there's a very good possibility Calgary's pick end up being around 12th-13th.

With Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Dach, Newhook, Roy, Mesar, Beck and the guys we will pick this draft it will be easy for KH to justify trading Dvorak even if we are fighting for a playoffs spot. With Xhekaj, Struble, Guhle, Rainman, Mailloux it will be easy to justify trading Savard too. There wont be much pressure for KH to keep those vets next season in fact KH might have to trade them to free a spot for a kid doing well in the AHL like Roy or Mailloux.
I really like our position.
No if Calgary draft out of the top 10 next season we get the better pick.As far as my understanding - We will get FLA pick not CGY so mid/late 20s more like it.
Because we don't have elite pieces and are running an average goalie having the time of his life to avoid getting those pieces. We're in a position to be good but not great long term.I don't understand why people don't like our position.

That's asking a lot since they are going to be selling off pieces for a 'retool'No if Calgary draft out of the top 10 next season we get the better pick.

Prepare to be heavily disappointed... And then really happy the teams leadership took a different approach than what you are suggestingBecause we don't have elite pieces and are running an average goalie having the time of his life to avoid getting those pieces. I'm not unhappy with the work done so far but would like to tank 1-2 years more to get that missing talent before trying to compete for the playoffs.
I don't mind being wrong but I want to see a superstar F (hopefully C).Prepare to be heavily disappointed... And then really happy the teams leadership took a different approach than what you are suggesting
I feel like people are doing a Boston Bruins will crash 2.0. They are looking at the players Calgary gonna lose and they are like they will be bottom 10 next season but they are not looking at their lineup just the names they will lose. I spent the whole summer saying Bruins wont crash and imo Calgary will remain fairly stable in the rankings next season.Seems they'd prefer to sign hanifin but he's playing hardball

Lindholm was not playing well. There's a very good chance Kuzmenko will be as good. Nanifin is a good dman but he's no Victor Hedman. Tanev is overrated imo and he's 34. Kylington did not play this season it wont affect them. It's not a good team but really not sure it's a bottom 10 team either. Not sure they tank either think they'll try to retool since they have unmovable vets.
I get your position but i think you try to paint our kids in a corner too soon. Slaf has the potential to be an elite player. He reminds me LeClair honestly and i think has the potential to be as good but earlier in his career. I'm impressed by his ability to use his body to create space on the ice at only 19.I don't mind being wrong but I want to see a superstar F (hopefully C).
Depending on what "superstar" means to you, I think we're on track in-house...I don't mind being wrong but I want to see a superstar F (hopefully C).
Slaf yes but I don't see it in the rest. Suzuki is Hischier and CC is Debrincat. Good but not superstars.I get your position but i think you try to paint our kids in a corner too soon. If Dach can remain healthy the potential is still there and it's rather high. Could definitely become a good big 1st line center. We have seen this a couple of time player getting injured multiple times because of bad luck and then they find a way to remain heathy.
I'm not sure why everyone are not even willing to give a chance to Rainman honestly. I still don't like the pick but he could definitely become a Pientrangelo like dman which i'd say is elite status. We can still draft 6th this season and the player we'll get at 6 should be very close to any other player not named Celebrini.
Suzuki and Dach will never be top 20Cs in the league, I'd put money on that. Newhook is a middle 6'er and CC is Debrincat for me (very good player but not tops in the league in his position).Depending on what "superstar" means to you, I think we're on track in-house...
Slaf & CC both have the tools to become top 5-10 wingers in the league in the next 3-5yrs
Suzuki & Dach probably moreso top 10-20 C ceilings.
This draft will land us a top 5 fwd from this draft year (unless KH goes with yet another D just to piss ppl off lol) ... with luck that gives us another top line fwd talent in 3-5yrs time.
But I also think KH will add an established top 6 talent btw now and 05 season start... Remains to be seen if that'll be another Dach/Newhook, or if he swings big and gives the team a legit elite player
Either way, I just don't see any scenario where this mngmt & coaching group is not focused on POs starting next season... And building toward a contending roster from there
Future is bright
Arizona only a point behind us but have 2 games in hand. They should jump usWashington actually beat Bruins today, 3-0. They move 3 pts up on Montreal & still have a game in hand. Finally, a bit of breathing room with the Caps.

Suzuki is arguably top 20 right now, so feel free to send me an e-transfer lolSuzuki and Dach will never be top 20Cs in the league, I'd put money on that. Newhook is a middle 6'er and CC is Debrincat for me (very good player but not tops in the league in his position).
I'd like to think of myself as pragmatic/slightly cynical on this team but you are waaay too optimistic.
