1st two years ago was a Bergevin/Ducharme double combo. Last year, we could've traded Anderson and Monty. This year, they're just getting to OT on goaltending so yes it is half ass. Want to tank, go all in. Want to compete for a cup, go all in.

Wait, I thought last year it was Allen that was stealing games and people wanted to trade?

Go all in by trading Anderson and Monty?
And what if the end result would be a low 1st round pick and Primeau and RHP just provided the same play quality and the same outcome?

Why not Suzuki or Caufield, now that's all in!
Chicago basically did it by trading Dach and Debrincat.

I don't know what you were watching but it was very clearly Monty last year as well stealing games. The low 1st round pick is nice but it maximizes that Habs pick which say 3rd or 4th overall would've gotten Fantilli, Bedard or Smith.

Caufield was out injured for over half the season and Suzuki was paired with effective bums. The are talented pieces to keep and form a good supporting cast. They were also moot in terms of hurting the tank last year.

As for the Chicago example, well they got Bedard and will draft top 3 again this year. Bedard and their 1st round pick this year are more valuable than Dach and Debrincat so I'd say they came out on top.

David Reinbacher was clearly a legitimate choice at #5. He had an outstanding draft season in what may be the second or third best league in the world, there are multiple lines of evidence that he was not a reach st his position, and if he meets his potential he will be a perfect fit for the Habs' core. He was the BPA and he fills a need.

I hope he develops well and I look forward to seeing him in Laval next year.
Pretty much every position is a need on teams that in the bottom-5 for several years in a row which was why it never really made sense as an argument.

But when people don't like a pick they somehow assume some nefarious plot to screw over whoever they consider the BPA is. Either it's drafting for need, or drafting for size, or scared of the russian factor, or Bettman fixed things, etc... The idea that someone else can come to a different conclusion on who is the BPA just can't be processed.

#6 OA would be perfect in that draft.

I'd like Levshunov or Demidov... But Demidov will fall for the same reasons as Michkov.

Lindstrom would be interesting. 11 goals in his last 10 games.

Well, Calgary passed us with their win tonight & Buffalo tied us with their win tonight.

Plus, Montreal with only 8 regulation wins will have the tie breaker against no one.

I'm hoping Pinto coming back gives Ottawa a boost.
I don't think anyone can help Ottawa right now lol. They're f***ing terrible

Hawks also up 1-0 in the 3rd right now in Winnipeg!!

Ottawa lost their best goalie it looks like (had to be helped out of the ice), which isn't saying much, but they aren't going to get better...

Regression is ugly but it's coming. Hopefully Oilers and Colorado do what they are supposed to do. A nice 3 game losing streak would take the wind out of the sails.
They will lose handily against McDavid and MacKinnon.

This is what happens when losing becomes the norm within an organization. This team is much more talented than the Habs yet they suck worse, if that's possible.

They should but we have a habit of winning when we shouldn't and losing when we shouldn't.

To your second post. That's what Hughes wants to avoid. We should be good there, regression is coming we will drop out and trade people. The room can feel good saying they were in it despite major injuries to Dach and Newhook and start next year being a more competitive and complete team

Good game for the tank. But definitely glad I missed it.

I think they'll still come out hard after losing 3. They've been up and down this year. One game they lose badly to the Sabres, the next they beat the dallas Stars on the road...

Then New Jersey. We could see a 0-4-1 run here easily. We might beat Ottawa, but they usually play us tough too. Then it's Boston. 4 of the next 5 games against some of the top teams in the league.

We really only have 8 regulation wins??

Really feels bad that we have about eighty thousand overtime losses this year. Damn.

Those ratings are garbage.
Well here's another site that corroborates it. @montreal watches most of these leagues so I can understand the source of his opinion. Do you have any source (site or ranking) that ranks the NL top 3?

Boy that unexpected regulation L feels good.
Hopefully they get spanked the next few games.

It's time for this team to break. That's enough culture building for a season. They can pack it in from now. No one will ever remember the rest of this Habs season anyway.

Pick 6-8 certainly looks like where this team is headed. Maybe #5.

Can't see them landing in the top 4 unless the wheels REALLY fall off.

Pre-lottery of course...
Still a few decent FW prospects will be around at that slot if we take into consideration Button's list

Agreed, we should have "lost" to Winnipeg, Dallas and Rangers all in regulation but have 5 of 6pts to show for it.

Take those 5 pts out right now for example, we go from 25th to 28th

Maybe we can keep sucking all lose all of next week including the Sens game, that would be epic to lose to the Sharks and Sens in a one week span
