I don't see how we finish in the top three without help from the lottery....

Other good news for the tank...

As of today we have the 4th hardest remaining schedule. The next closest team of the bottom 10 right now is Columbus, who has the 17th hardest remaining schedule.
Wonder if it's the same "hard schedule " like last year, where people kept bringing it up and we'd win. There's no magic schedule, hard or easy in the NHL. The games are played on the ice, not on paper.

As long as Montembault doesn't steal too many games, we'll be bottom 3.

The scoring D-men will eventually come back to earth.

??

In the last 22 games last year, Habs won 5 of them, only 2 OTL and 15 losses.
Can't expect much more than that.

The games are still played on the ice, but more back to back, more road games, facing top contender will make it harder to stack W.

There's absolutely no way we're catching Chicago, San Jose or Anaheim for a bottom 3 position. Those 3 teams suck balls.

Even Ottawa at the #4 position is a tough catch, they'd have to win all their games in hand and go on a run, which seems truly unlikely at this point. They suck balls too.

Lowest we can go is #5 again, which is Columbus. They're only 3 points back, but we have 2 games in hand.

If we lose tonight & Buffalo & Minnesota win, we officially get into #6 spot.

Still tied for 7th in the Tankathon standings. This might be one of those years where a .500 record gets you around 8th or so. That wouldn't be the end of the world, as long as one of Eiserman/Demidov/Catton/Lindstrom is there for the taking when we pick.

The good news is both Minnesota & Buffalo won tonight too, so we didn't separate from them.

Calgary lost, so we're tied with them. We're tied in points with Blues & Oilers, but both teams are currently playing and have played fewer games.

This win didn't hurt us really.

Definitely need to lose in Philly because we've got SJ at home after. Winning both and getting back to two games over .500 would be a gut punch.

Hopefully we see one or two starting goaltenders in the next few weeks.

Anaheim would be close but their top players are all glass bodies like many of Montreal's

Goals by Gallagher, Monahan and Armia added with Monty's performance... so good for the future.
I has hoping for the Rangers to score in the last 3 minutes. Is going to be another hard tank year. Honestly, after this year. I'm done with tanking.
We already have 2 first round pick in 2025. No need to tank anymore after this season.

Just tell Monty to stay home for the rest of the season solves our too many points and 3 goalie problem with one move
We are one of the few bottom 10 teams with good goalies. I just hope, we can end up in the bottom 5 and draft a elite forward to complete our top 6.

Another SO/OT win. I just LOVE IT!

Said nobody ever…
Well not everyone wants to lose every game in regulation.

Ylonen had a strong game. Should have had two apples. He set Suzuki up beautifully. But Nick hit the post.

I also thought Heineman is getting more comfortable.

On the positive about the vet goals, although Gally is unmovable, Hughes may decide to move Monahan, and I do think Armia will get us a return at next TDL. So their production isn't in vain.

Why does Ottawa suck so much? TBH I haven’t watched one game of theirs start to finish all year.
I have some Ottawa based friends who trash talk about this being their year, yet here they are…

I see what you are saying, but I actually thought both Heinemann and Ylonen really stepped up last night. Harris and Strubby too.

The Wings are a team whose rebuild has gone very much like ours, they're just a few years ahead. The inability to acquire top-end talent will leave them as a likely Playoff bubble team throughout the entirety of their "window", such as it is, in a very competitive Atlantic division.
They’ve picked up debris at and Kane. They are attracting talent

They are very young and they didn't surround the team with good vets. We can complain all we want about Gallagher and Savard etc... but in the long run you are better off having a good amount of veteran leadership. Friedman said last night that OTT is looking for veterans who know how to be pros. In effect they did what most people around here want us to do and it's not working yet... at least they brought in Martin and seem to be trying to get it back on track... I actually hope they do 'cause it will make it fun to have a rivalry with them again.

They suck defensively, their goaltending is trash again, and all their young players have taken a step back.

Last year, Tkachuk & Stutzle put up crazy offensive numbers. This year, they're not. Stutzle had 39g last year. He has 7g this year, and 34 pts. Tkachuk 28 pts. He had 83 pts last year.

Then add in they also lost offense due to the trade of Debrincat, which has not been replaced. Ottawa thought Norris coming back & Tarasenko would equal Debrincat. It's not happening.

They're simply not a good enough team defensively to lose all that offense. They won a ton of games last year due to their PP, then offense. They had the 8th best PP last year. This year, 9th worst PP, and they're behind Montreal in that category.

Last year, defense sucked, but offense & PP were great. This year, it all sucks.
