Sure they do. For non athletes the course "The History of the Triangle" involves a 30 page term paper that can cover a range of topics from pre-American history to the Tech Boom of the past 20+ years.

Mind you for athletes the term paper is simply drawing a triangle on a piece of paper. Or correctly identifying a picture of Phil Jackson.
