He’s a demanding coach who has been disliked by some players but it seems like a lot more of his players absolutely love him and talk a lot about how he pushed them and made them better.
Some examples

@Myrtman being an unapologetic SHILL for the Flyers again. What a joke.

I'm happy with the hire, he'll do just fine.
Added bonus , it pisses off the little coffee clutch of cackling hens in
here that no hire or player signing will make them happy. That group is so smart
that their ONLY contribution to hockey is sitting and yapping about it in a forum and screaming at a T.V screen.

Saving this to shove down your arrogant throat when they inevitably are a disaster under Torts.

The silver lining here is that at some point chucky will be gone along with his horrid management. Can't see a scenario where flyers don't amount at least a serious go at the cup in year two of torts (which they probably won't) and they somehow still keep giving him blank cheques.

Most of the people who complain about Tortorella as a coach also said he’s terrible with young players, is hated by his players, & never lasts long anywhere.

All three of these things are wrong.

Why listen to people who have such an incorrect grasp of his coaching history?
You must not have seen Brandon Dubinsky's tweet. You know a guy that got stuck with Torts 2 times in his career?

I saw it. I also saw Cam Atkinson’s happy gif tweet.

Point is that Torts is painted as universally loathed by his players, which isn’t true. Just as many or more seem to like him than dislike him.

Who cares? With every new coach in every organization some players benefit and some don’t. Doesn’t matter the coach. Dubinsky made it clear he put himself before the team. Torts actually went to him and explained the situation.

you mean the angry vet that got benched for the younger players that the fans that have been wanting all the flyers coaches to do?
Angry vet who worked his ass off for Torts then another coach to earn his spot and then due to injury got his spot handed to someone else. Two players who by the way didn't blossom under Torts one of which begged to get out.

Which one is worse? We hired Torts? Or Torts is the best coach we have had for a decade?

The best coach we had this past decade was Berube, it's just that we got him while he was still green as grass and making mistakes. Once he had time to learn from those mistakes and adjust, he won a Cup.

There's a reason I keep saying that I only want to see HCs who are in their first or second stop in their career: the vast, vast majority of Cup-winning coaches do so in their first or second stop. The trick is figuring out if you're dealing with someone who needs to make mistakes in his first job, or someone who has it mostly down right out of the gate.

Ugh, do not want. Not that it will matter much anyway. 10th to 14th pick here we come. Don't even have to play the season. At least this bring us closer to Fletch firing.

Since when the objective of the hockey tournament is obtaining higher draft picks?
Also, since when having higher draft picks (unless they are Crosby, Malkin, and Fleury in a row) guarantees success?
What they might guarantee is picking in 10- 20 range in a few years, which you can actually start next year.

Losing breeds only losing. Torts may not be a winner we dream of, but, perhaps, he is a disciplinarian that the team needs.
