Point is the pattern repeated itself at three different stops.Deady, I'm begging you. Stop using things from 20 years ago to equate to today. Tortorella "developing" MSL is the same thing as you telling me Brady and Brees being drafted after the first round mean you can still do that today and plan to succeed. I was in undergrad when these things happened. I am so old I would be behind bulletproof glass in a liquor store.
Torts takes over a young team, gets unheralded prospects to raise their game (and pisses off a high pick or two).
Whereas Trotz, like Lavi, became a "veterans' HC, the one you bring to turn around an underachieving franchise.
Torts seems to be the guy you bring in to turn around a young, struggling team.
Probably b/c his style wouldn't work well on a team like say Vegas.
Ironically, I don't think the PTB thinks that way, they don't see this as a young team that needs developing, but as an underachieving playoff caliber team - so they may have hired the right HC for the wrong reasons.
