We'll see.
Trotz is probably to demonstrate they tried, doubtful he's coming to a team with no shot at the Cup.
Torts placates a certain portion of the fan base and the Dinos.
But who are the other finalists?

Please f*** don't be Torts.

I bet the Flyers have Trotz as their #1 choice but he hasn't made a decision yet and Torts is their #2.

The other finalists are
Bruce Cassidy
Rick Tocchet
Jim Montgomery
Mike Velluci

You know what makes a strong defensive team. Being a team that is fast and has the puck a lot. But the Flyers don’t believe that, they still think they can grind teams to dust while everyone is skating around them.
Maybe one day they will understand that but I am not holding my breath

Well, plan B might be to laugh teams to death by making them watch what the PTB consider hockey. That one might actually work.

I was thinking this earlier. Like maybe he could get into a fight with Gritty and rip the head off the costume.
Now youre talking! Im hoping he publicly calls out the front office for doing dumb shit.

I know hes from the same school as them but I could still see them doing stuff to piss him off...esp if the season goes off the rails.

If they want to sell tickets, shouldn’t they find the most offensive/exciting system coach out there? Who wants to watch a hockey team that’s hardest to play against? This is not football. I say this myself valuing a team that is hard to play against.

yep. we are on the verge of seeing a cup final between the two most offensively dynamic, highly skilled teams (TB/COL) and our pathetic organization is more concerned with toughness and size and finding a coach that makes us tough to play against.

Tortorella fits in well with the organizational concept.

Why Trotz would ever choose this garbage heap of a franchise is beyond me. I guess a boatload of money and the travel schedule is in the Flyers' favour.

But the roster? The front office? The prospect pool? All of these are trash tier. Maybe he doesn't care about winning and just wants to make as much money as possible at this point in his career.

But if Trotz and Torts are the front runners, god help anyone who wants to be entertained by watching this team.

Has there been mention of any other team looking for a coach having interest in Torts? Or are we the only dumb franchise ready to give him the keys.

Well, to be fair, CBJ had missed the playoffs 5 of 6 years before Torts came to town, he took them to the PO four straight seasons.
That was a pretty young team, only players 28 or older were Jack Johnson, Tyutin, Dubinsky and Hartnell

Nor did they have elite offensive talent, Saad, Jenner, Wennberg, Atkinson, Johansen, Karlsson. Lots of 2nd line talent.
Johansen #4-2010, Murray D #2-2012, Werenski #8-2015, Dubois #3-2016 were their high picks.
Atkinson was their best scorer and he was a 6th rd pick.

So it's hard to judge Torts' impact on their scoring given they didn't exactly have a McKinnon, Maker, Crosby, etc.

We may be in the best position to promise him what he really wants, in terms of a front office job. He knows once you’re a Flyer, it takes Herculean effort to get kicked to the outside of the circle, so he and Fletcher could end up as the next generation of Clarke and Holmgren.

Well at least we don’t give Johnny hockey 12 mill. He wouldn’t sign for 14 mill under Torts.

And Hayes will quit or be a healthy scratch by game 10.

This is going to speed up the complete implosion

And did the POS Torts even interview anywhere else ? Highly unlikely

That’s a very good point. We aren’t getting a good vet or rookie coach for a lot of reasons. May as well get one that stops us from ruining the team 5 years from now when Fletcher and hopefully Scott are long gone. It would be great if we got Provy and some other high value assets to want a trade.
