First year with the Jackets (15-16), they had the 3rd highest GA in the league, which was the same number as the previous year, but they also scored 14 less goals and had 13 less team points from the previous year (14-15). Jackets were also in the bottom 10 for PP in 15-16.

In 16-17, the team did seem to score a good number of goals and they stopped getting scored on as much (6th in GF and 2nd least goals allowed), however, they were only 12th for PP.

Basically, when looking at the numbers, even if it may mean less goals for the Flyers, it does not answer the other several elephants in the room. It's like getting slashed with a sword and only using a small band aid on it. You may fix a small area, but you're bleeding out everywhere else with no stopping in site.

And lastly, I can't see how Torts being signed would bring more people back into the arena and sell more tickets. What part of Torts or the game he wants the Flyers to play would put butts back in seats? Torts solves nothing and instead starts to instill the outdated use of tough love for players.

Also, be prepared to see more injured players as a key staple of Torts hockey is to block f***ing everything.

If people want him around just for personality and post-game stuff, instead of actually improving, then you're watching f***ing hockey for all the wrong reasons. "He sucks as a coach, but it's so fun to watch him be a trainwreck off the ice!" Yeah, no, f*** that.
They’re not going to fix everything in one off-season. The first thing they have to do is stop being a disaster zone and move like a competent hockey organization. The good part to that is that when it doesn’t happen, we will get a full purge.

It’s very possible that candidates with options may have Vegas down on their lists.

They missed the playoffs, they’ve got serious cap problems on the horizon, they bungled the Dadonov situation, Eichel isn’t exactly known for his coachability or likability, they are tied into some core players on the decline, not a glowing prospect pool, & a volatile owner.

There’s much more of a case to be made that Gallant & DeBoer were fired hastily than was AV. Not to mention Fletcher’s reputation as a good person to work with might bump up Philly (in addition to its much easier travel schedule).

So it’s quite possible some candidates may prefer Philly to Vegas. Just as some may prefer Vegas for its distinct lifestyle, climate, &/or roster/organizational reasons.

Mike Johnson just said Cassidy is the perfect fit,,,
But you know it’s Torts.

At least he will be the final straw to destroy the team and Hayes will hate it with Hart having an easier job. The only 3 positives.

Should be 2 years or less till everyone is gone.

If they want to sell tickets, shouldn’t they find the most offensive/exciting system coach out there? Who wants to watch a hockey team that’s hardest to play against? This is not football. I say this myself valuing a team that is hard to play against.

Coaches aren’t going to think about teams the same way that their disgruntled fans do.

Torts is soon to be 64 years old. His next job could well be his last one. That could be strong motivation for him to get it right.

Didn't take you long to start drinking that Orange Kool-Aid for Torts

The offensive/exciting teams ARE the hardest to play against..

This isn't the dead puck era. It's closer to 80's scoring than that.

It’s certainly not easy to beat a team like the Avs when they can just turn it on in the last 5 minutes and close out a series.

But it’s different than being physically or system wise annoying or frustrating to play against.

I agree with you on the newer era of play, but I also think it should be the goal to be the best when copying or to go the complete opposite of the table - super systems teachings if you’ve played and read on poker game play. It’s one thing to have an offensive team with the very good canes or panthers, and another with the Avs.

Don't confuse a team with a generational player or two with a scheme.
Pens are going to score with Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel and Letang.

All situations, GF/60 v xGF/60:
Colorado 4.53 - 3.72
Edmonton 4.03 - 3.58
St Louis 3.28 - 2.73
TB 3.07 - 3.57
NYR 3.07 - 2.80
Calgary 2.84 - 3.79
CAR 2.63 - 3.43
FLA 2.27 - 3.15

PIT 3.70 - 4.27
