Yes. Because the Leafs have given us absolutely zero reason to feel jaded over the past couple of years.

Shitting the bed in JT's long Island return game.

Losing their own Zamboni driver.

Shitting the bed in a game 5 deciding series after a miraculous game 4 O.T comeback win the night before.

Blowing a 3-1 series lead to a divisional rival.

Yes. You're absolutely right. There's no reason whatsoever for certain portions of the fanbase to feel jaded!.............

I remember Matthews scoring in OT in the Winter Classic

Woll winning his first 3 games

Campbell setting an NHL record for wins to start a season

Matthews Rocket

The many many many highlight plays the big 4 have made

Etc etc.

We are very different people, and I'm very happy for that.

Hopefully you can find some joy, because clearly watching the Leafs doesn't bring that to you.

I will never EVER understand that whole situation.

Kerfoot I would actually give up picks to get rid of, let alone (lol) protect.

Dermott and Holl I'm fine with at their rolls... but to expose McCann over them? Guy paced for almost 30 goals last year... And add in that (for some reason I'll also never understand), it appeared out of Kerfoot/Holl/Dermott, Seattle seemed most interested in Kerfoot. So good riddance. Why trade for McCann then?

I think, overall, the reason I don't understand it is because it doesn't make any sense.
Picks to get rid of Kerfoot?

I've never understood the Kerfoot hate. He's a versatile player for us who can play 3c or 2LW whenever needed. In a pinch, he can also play 2C as he has good chemistry with Nylander. In the playoffs he's played above his normal level and produced at a very good clip for us (9 points in 12 games, a 62 point pace).

I understand needing to move him due to the cap if you wanted an upgrade like a top line winger. What I don't get is this idea he has negative value and we need to dump him

I believe he has negative value at a 3.5 mil cap hit. He's a 2 mil player at most. And this team is desperate for cap space.

You went to plus minus, eh? Wow.

Let's point out that Settle is -12 on the season, and the leafs are +17.

Only went to +/- as people tend not to like goal differential for some reason.

...and Kerfoot leads the Leafs and is tied for 15th in the league for all forwards in +/- which is pretty good.....and I say this as someone who wished they somehow kept McCann right from the start.

It’s not about Kerfoot. It’s about Holl. Because, he was the guy Dubas protected in favour of McCann.

You have a point on Holl but none knew he would struggle at the start as much as he did but he's looked better as of late. Holl has been one of the better value dmen in the league the past couple of seasons.

Why is one of the best teams in hockey desperate for capspace?
Because of the unprecedented dramatic overpayments that disappear in the playoffs. I know Kerfoot stepped up last year... but his track record is mediocre.

We will. Until then, since you have contributed absolutely nothing useful like always....thank you and good bye.

Keep living in Groundhog Day. I’m just simply stating that regular season with this team means squat, or haven’t you been watching?

Hainsey lead the leafs in +/- (and was top 5 in the league) his last season with the leafs, and everyone wanted him the f*** out of town.

I'm sorry, but fans of other teams don't do this. They just don't. They don't look at an opposing teams player pacing for 40 goals, and then say their guy pacing for 13 goals is better due to +/-.

Hey, just saying a guy pacing for 15 goals, 55 points and +40 on the season is valuable too. Kinda takes the sting outta not keeping McCann.

It means entertainment...it's litterally all entertainment. If you are not entertained why bother?
This is the first season since the Nonis years where the game is sort of on in the background as opposed to having my undivided attention.

People were saying it in the summer, but I didn't think it would happen with me.

But it is.

I'm just finding it hard to care about the regular season when I know what will inevitably happen...

Lol, you sure know how to hockey

Take a lap junior

Let’s ignore the fact that Kerfoot has the exact inverse of as stat line, albeit 6 extra games played, do you really think McCann would get the same role (top PP and top offensive option)? What happens at the end of the year when McCann needs to be re-signed and has a QO over 3 mill?

To be honest, I’d prefer McCann by a hair, but the doom and gloom every time his name is brought up is hilarious.

Because people need to make up a reason to bitch?

Gotta say, if the mods won't do their jobs, just blow up the Leaf board or shut it down. We'll head elsewhere. No one but the trolls are truly enjoying it here.

I'll lead the charge. I have a Leaf's centric website.

TBH, out of all the people bitching around here, you're the one I've noticed the most lately. It seems like you've made literally dozens of posts during just the last few days that all say pretty much the same thing - stop being so negative. If you already have the kind of site you prefer, what are you still doing here?

Lead the charge and take all the other whiners with you, have a safe trip.

A lot of that was because it was basically a forgone conclusion that the Leafs were going to protect Holl.

You also have to wonder / question, was David Kampf a prime target for the Leafs from the beginning? If you assume/believe he was, then the Leafs needed Kerfoot (or McCann) so that they'd have a backup 2nd line centre. McCann's a better winger / better offensive force, and may have been preferred to Kerfoot, but Kerfoot's a better centre, likely making the choice somewhat indifferent to Toronto.

fans wanted Hainsey out of town when he was a Leaf? Somehow i missed this.

The reason it doesn’t make any sense is because you don’t understand it.

Go 7 forwards and you lose one of Holl or Dermott, most likely Holl.

Signing a Holl replacement last offseason was expensive, 2M will get you no better than a 5 or 6 D. Now in hindsight, Holl took a step back and Lilly stepped up, but at the time of the expansion draft Holl was looking like a solid number 5 with the ability to look comfortable in the #4 spot and Lilly was still a huge question mark.

So to keep the D in tact they went 4-4-1, exposing Kerfoot, Engvall and Dermott.

Kerfoot is their top 6 winger with versatility to allow him to cover C if needed. McCann was available for trade because Pittsburgh wanted a free out from one of their bigger cap contracts and they knew Seattle would be forced to take one if McCann wasn’t available to them via Pittsburgh.

The Leafs essentially saw Kerfoot and McCann as interchangeable pieces trading a B/C prospect and a 7th for a 2b winger/C, be it via trade or retaining. Turns out they were right and Kerfoot/McCann have looked more or less of equal caliber.

Exactly....it's been going on a lot longer than a few day though.
