“I’m not going to get into specific calls we get on specific guys, as I’ve said in the past, my belief in that group in there … in the entire core, is immense and unwavering,” said Dubas.

Ummm...was Freddie Andersen not part of the core not that long ago? Kind of a hollow statement in that context. "I believe in the core until they're not the core."

I guess he believes the entire core consists of the 4 guys he spent the $40M on.

ur probably the only person to not get what core means ......

Only to Fred fans.

I've never been a fan and I acknowledged him as part of the core. He was definitely a name considered by most posters as someone to keep when the early cap problem discussions were going on. It was always how to build around the Big 4 + Freddie + Rielly.

No it wasn't.

Even if you subscribe to the idea Andersen was core at a time, he definitely played his way out of it over the past 2 years.

it’s still beyond frustrating that the moment this team started to learn to defend Andy’s game regressed significantly.

You're correct but Andersen then played his way out of the core.

Totally agree. But then we're back to my point that you're the core until you're not the core which makes blanket statements "I completely support this core" completely meaningless. That's literally all I said but (someone) wants to debate it for some reason.

He has shown up in the playoffs for the Leafs as well. He was brought in to be an effective top-4 defenseman, and he has been that and more. It was an excellent trade.

Come on now......bad trade because the Leafs didn't foresee him getting hit from behind into the boards against Columbus, let alone him injuring his groin against Montreal.

Clearly we need to revamp our entire psychic department. :sarcasm:

That executive was probably grousing about Muzzin because of the fact that the first 5 games in the series before he got hurt, Muzzin played the hardest defensive minutes of any Leaf, had 3 points including two goals while being on for 0 goals against. Massive loss when he went down and, just like the year before, the team didnt look nearly as good in his absence with Marincin or Sandin as a replacement (not surprising).

well ok then.

if one team executive told you this then this must be a fact.

But it’s more.

Clairvoyance. Future Telling. And lack of free will.

All proven by one team executive.

This is journalism now?
Looks like they should give the 11 million Marner money to Muzzin then.
I mean if that’s the key driving force.

seems to be something to that.

Muzzin had more goals this playoff than Marner and Matthews combined.
