Sounds like the name of a villain in a bad 50s sci-fi movie

Anybody watch “George and Tammy” on Showtime? I thought it was excellent. Both Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon did their own singing, and they did an excellent job, considering the shoes they had to fill….
Mrs. Orr Four watched it. I'll get around to watching it eventually. She gave it a thumbs up.

Paul McCartney and Wings
Silly Love Songs

The 1973 television special James Paul McCartney abetted Paul's accelerating career recovery, which most Beatle people agree began with the arrival of "Hi Hi Hi" the year prior. This chunky little rocker (swiftly banned by the BBC, a fate which also befell McCartney's attempt to 'get political' with "Give Ireland Back to the Irish") was followed by the George Martin produced Bond theme, "Live and Let Die."

JPM, which featured a pink tuxedoed Paul as song and dance man, also showcased the smoochy ballad "My Love," a U.S. number #1.

The song's lyrics ("Oh my love/My love/Only my love does it good to me/Wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo") didn't help McCartney's dissolving reputation as a Lyricist Of Consequence. Nor, in the words of Beatles biographer Nicholas Schaffner, did Paul's effort "to make passionate faces" whilst singing it on the special, "looking instead as if he'd just sucked a lemon,"

The original “Passionate Kisses” is so much better than MCC’s Grammy winner. At least Lucinda still owns the song. One of far fewer blessings in her life than she deserves.

She and Gurf performing together had an interesting chemistry. I think they are both very intensely connected to songs and the feel of music and the differences in their outward personalities becomes far less obvious.

Thanks for posting. I rarely consciously pick Lucinda to listen to - I’m definitely more of a rock guy - but I’m always glad when I do hear her.

Edit: not that Lucinda doesn’t “rock,” I just think of her as more of a folk/countryish singer-songwriter, even with a full electric band.

Miss Jimmy on his SG

Jimmy's debut with Wings was an auspicious one, and the tune itself remains one of my favorite McCartney rockers.

Here's another fine McCartney rocker, which has nothing whatever to do with Jimmy McCullough, 1977's "Girls School," the double A side of "Mull of Kintyre" (which incidentally held the record for largest selling single ever for quite a while).

Love Love Minus Zero. It's a high +/-.

I was 14 when I got Bringing it All Back Home. Didn't like It's Alright, Ma. It was pre-rap rap. Made no sense to a 14-year-old suburbanite. Listening to it as an adult and realizing it is simply brilliant.

There's nothing like Desolation Row.

Just read that a singer on the Grammys dressed in a Devil suit caused some folks hair to catch on fire. This tune which hit No 1 in U.K., No 2 in US caused the singer's own hair to catch fire.

With the war, civil rights, and the hippies to be in an uproar over Arthur burned under the radar.

As some of you know I am a big fan of Tom Petty. When he left this earth, I didn't listen to his music right away because it made me sad. A few years ago, I got tickets to The Tupelo Music Hall to see a band (Damn the Torpedoes) that does Petty songs. When I went, I thought they would suck but they were very good. They have been covering Tom Petty songs for many years. I started to listen to the Heartbreakers again after hearing them. That was a few years ago and Sat. night I am going to see them again. The Tupelo is right up the street and has some good stuff sometimes.

After Jeff Beck was told by his bandmates in the Yardbirds to fly the coop, his manager thought a career as a solo artist was the way to go. He sang lead on this tune that hit No 14 in the UK, his highest charting song.

Hit No 24 in UK with this cover.

Didn't care for the Pop scene, re worked this B.B. King tune with a singer he met in studio and they gave the writing credit to one "Jeffrey Rod". They then formed a band together.
