It's hasn't even been a day since he "refused" to go to the CHL. I put refused into quotes because we don't kno what he's thinking. It could be emotions that will calm down. He's still a kid; he's not a North American; He's not Zemgus Girgenson. His best interests don't fit the same as his bosses. He might've had a moment of weakness, of childishness, that will pass. but the Twitter world, makes seconds turn into hours and days turn into years.

The kid hasn't had a choice to where he is going to play over the last two years. At one point or another, it should be expected to for an immature 19 year old to have a mini-break down or listen to really bad advice from his agent.

So much revolt over this....geeezus. Grigorenko may have some reason to feel slighted, and an outsider can argue some points to why the Sabres have screwed up the situation. The bottom line though, is that Grigorenko signed a contract and he has to live up to that. It's a mere couple of months for him to toil away (possibly in vain) in the Q, hardly a big friggin' deal. He's not going to get big minutes in Buffalo anyway, so he needs to make a decision based on the practicalities of the situation, not the greediness that he's probably being infected with by his agent.

He's just lowering his stock and amount of faith/slack that Buffalo or any organization might ever give him. All these posters arguing to the hilt for Grigorenko can't see the forest for the trees...just like him.

so what does he do now? Once he's sent to the CHL there's no coming back until next year, right?

If he refuses you report to Quebec, either won't suit up again this year, or he'll end up in the KHL?

It could be a money thing. ELC are huge feast famine deals. Going back to the Q will cost Grigs over a half million in salary.

That's where the problem lies.... The kid thinks he is entitled to an NHL salary and a roster spot . That has to be earned . The NHL is not a development league.....

I generally agree with your point. But I don't think it's smart to adhere too strictly to "standards." Every player is different, and every asset needs to be managed on a case by case basis in light of all of the circumstances. In the case of Grigorenko, you could make an argument for keeping him in the NHL even if Zadarov and Larsson are more NHL ready.

So he gets something they don't because he threw a hissy fit?

The kid has never belonged in the NHL. That has not changed. All I can say is thank god Regier got fired before he had a chance to botch even more of the youngsters development.

Yea, it was discussed earlier. I guess it has since been taken down off his Facebook page.

Why would it be taken down? Is he no longer sorry or is he just going to try and pretend it never happened?

Screw this little pre-madonna....He has earned nothing.....Suspend him without pay....try and trade him for whatever - a bag of pucks will do just fine.....

Personally he has never impressed me....Do not want him part of this organization anymore.....We don't need self-centered players....

Rack him up as more of Darcy's trash that we need to clean out.

He doesn't deserve to be a Buffalo Sabre....Suspend him, and give him nothing.

Pre-Madonna? Self centered? Not to de-rail the thread or push an anti Hodgson agenda, but CoHo went through this himself in Vancouver. Reportedly saying he had nothing left to learn in AHL, characterized by Gillis as a diva who created more problems than the rest of the team. Complaining so much that when he had a serious injury the organization didn't believe him. As a rookie, going to the GM about playing time and the coach about his role while his agent made it public in the press, essentially forcing the trade to Buffalo. Then, instead of trying to change his image, he holds out during contract negotiations. That all gets brushed aside.

So what has Grigs done thats actually worse or even comparable? He's refused to report to the Q in the most gracious manner, rethinking his future when the Sabres hit the reset button for the 4th? 5th? 6th? time in 12 months? He isn't crying for top 6 minutes or playing time, he didn't complain about being scratched or being on a line with John Scott, he hasn't said anything negative during his tenure, but suddenly every stereotype is being hurled at the kid?

I'm not saying he should even be in Buffalo, not that he has been given much of a chance, just commenting on the lynching going on in this thread, double standards, the Russian Factor being more applicable to reactions than to Russian players.
