2017? That was one of my OG favorites.
Dumbest thing about all this? I actually had never had it. I grabbed a 22 and just shelved it, proceeded to forget about it. The bourbon flavor comes through more strongly in this than the stouts. As good as barrel aged stouts are, this or something like curieux bring out the bourbon that much more.

Which is just wonderful, because as much as I like beer, bourbon is right up there by way of vices.

Yeah, barley wines and old ales tend to lend better to aging in bourbon and or whiskey barrels, as there aren't as many flavors to fight, unlike your 'chocolate hazelnut coffee mint cookie' stout.

Barleywines are beers that I wish I could drink more of, but I just need a certain type of mood for that... and you may have put me in it.

They’re not in my normal rotation at all, nor do I reach for them on occasion.

I’m struggling to think of other barrel aged Belgian style stuff. Their nuances would play perfect. I feel like I remember seeing Chimay did a barrel aged beer, but I can’t imagine it was actually barrels from Kentucky.

Good choice. I like darker ales. I see a nice dent in that American Prairie too!

In theory, I'm having a La Fin du Monde, but I'm covered in dogs and can't reach it.

I think youd enjoy this one. Details here.

Absolutely beautiful beer, aged fantastically and doesn't taste anywhere near 16.2%

Also, what kinda dogs?

Jeez, 16. I think the only one I've had that strong was their Chocolate Rain. Might have been a little lower, not sure. It does look good, though.

We have a Newfoundland and a Pug (who's currently in Canada), but I'm also dogsitting two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. There's a good ~250 lbs of dog sleeping on me.

Ive got a 2015 and 16 chocolate rain in my stash, if im not mistaken. Been a while since i checked. But yeah, Bruery's stuff is legit. I miss living there sometimes.

Nice! I'm pushing the fiancee to a husky, shes pushing for a pomsky instead. Not sure where the compromise is, lol.

Congrats! We just settled on each picking one. It seemed easier than arguing.

Now I spend my days saying no to a 3rd because I know it won't end there. She got involved with a rescue...

Hahaha, it never ends. We'll need a big yard for what i want - huskies just need too much room to run and i would never put a dog like that in either of ours' places yet.

Also, thanks! Everything went over awesome this weekend, after every possible hiccup at the Ryman to actually do the deed. lol
