Oof, 130 proof.
I've noticed the need to keep trying higher proof bourbons as well; the usual suspects at 94 proof almost feel too easy.

On the other hand I've had a bottle of Stagg Jr that tasted so hot I didn't enjoy it without adding a few drops of water.

Yep, super high variation. My sweet spot seems to be 115-125ish.

I won't even buy Elmer at MSRP because it tastes like water. I'd rather leave it for someone who will appreciate it. But the original Coy Hill is 141.6 and drinks no hotter to me than 1920.

We hardly ever see Elmer T over here anymore, the option sure would be nice! Sometimes you can get lucky across the border in Oregon's state stores. They have an online registry to show what bottles go to which store, but the allocations are so limited you have to be on it.

Younger me thought Elmer was one of the best sips I'd had, but these days it might not pack enough bite like you mentioned.

In Jersey, they just get marked up to full secondary or you know someone. Those are the two choices. So I frequent stores that do the latter instead of the former. But then I turn down everything allocated I don’t actually want. The same guy as the Elmer also offered me Weller FP and 12. Zero interest whatsoever, so I passed for someone else to have.

The Stagg surprised me so much because I haven’t seen a single BT product above BT itself on a shelf in NJ in years. Well, except for the place that has Eagle Rare for $119. That’s not a typo. I swear.
