No I did not grow up in Northern Virginia. I know the sort you're talking about though. Their saving grace is that unlike the old money in Richmond, they aren't a weird inbred society that is socially offputting.

I make enough to live comfortably in 98% of the US, but I'm barely un-poor here. It's nuts.

I went to a pumpkin patch, which one doesn’t matter, but they do apple picking and so on. I grabbed a freshly pressed gallon of apple cider, and stopped off at a state store for a bottle of kraken. So good.

In all seriousness, I don't have any of the need for caffeine to get through a day, but the 2 weeks I quit cold turkey were the worst of my life. The headache started the morning of the 2nd day and never went away no matter what I did. Don't start. Ever.

Yes, although I've cut way back from my 1+ pots a day.

This is not an exaggeration. My girlfriend at the time told me I was going back on it because I was impossible to be around. That's how miserable going cold turkey is.

It gives you one hell of an appreciation for people who get themselves off of hard drugs. It has to be unending waves of pure hell.

19 years ago, I stopped dipping for four days. On the fourth day, I was laid up in bed with the shakes and cold sweats, literally couldn't function at all.

I drink 1 cup of coffee a day tops. Usually after dinner more than in the morning. Sometimes skip days. I don’t really crave the caffeine (as any addict would say); I just like the taste. Coffee ice cream has been my favorite flavor since I was a lad. Ate it well before I actually drank the hot stuff. I pity the person who doesn’t like coffee ice cream.
