who should care? they're not oilers anymore - we should start a Foegele Desharnais thread to keep track - maybe throw in McLeod too - this thread is bad
Its sole purpose is to keep this discussion out of other threads. People were just constantly flooding every other thread with constant whining about these players and it was making every thread complete trash. This is where people can vent without derailing every other thread.

Hey St. Louie! Now you can enjoy some of Broberg's time in the infirmary on your own payroll!

From all accounts that I read, he's been exceptional so far. Too bad about injury. Horrible that we lost this guy too, for whatever reasons....

Don’t want to ever wish an injury on anyone, and I was rooting for Broberg to do well (which he has) but seemingly suffers from an injury history. Hopefully it’s not too bad, but whatever screw you Blues.

Ooof just saw the video of Broberg’s knee bending in a sideways way that it shouldn’t. Ouch

Just looked at Brobergs Statline, considering his age and skating ability, he would have surpassed Bouchard as our best defenseman as early as this season if he played in Edmonton. Oh well. Hope his knees are fxxx. Get bent St. Louis

That was one knock on Broberg... he can't seem to stay healthy. Same with Holloway.

I'd say Broberg will be as good as Ekholm by the end of his contract. It's the hockey IQ that I always loved about him. As he ages he will tighten up his game and speed up the decision making. He was already showing that in the playoffs.

I'll just add that although I view this situation as a massive unforced error by our management, it's not the end of the world. Florida won the cup, and they let Weagar go, who is better than Broberg today, and they let better players than Holloway go too. Management can salvage their reputation by getting us that RD we need, and of course by winning the Cup. Situations like these unnecessary offer sheets should be putting more pressure on them to get this organization a big win

He's still very young though and it didn't look all that bad.

I didn’t watch Ekholm when he was younger but I feel like hes been pretty darn good for a long time. I don’t think Ekholm and Broberg are comparable at all though. Feel like they are being compared because they are Swedish lol

The biggest thing I notice with Ekholm is his composure. Its vastly better than most other players.

Broberg just doesn’t have composure to a level of Ekholm that I have seen. Dude struggles with reads, decisions, confidence etc.

He may be better in terms of skating and general movement but I’m not holding my breath he will be better than Ekholm.

Ekholm is also way more durable because he doesn’t put himself in bad situations like Broberg. Broberg has improved in this regard, he was getting clobbered when he was a rookie. But he still finds himself in tough situations.

Well there is this review, of him which isn't glowing but also very happy with him at the 2014 mark

And btw that comparison I made was more of an educated guess than something I'm firm about. There are differences but also parallels. Ekholm was also a high profile 2nd pairing with some RD experiences. It's hard to compare them stylistically when Ekholm had the benefit of playing on a defensive juggernaut. He wasn't top pairing quality yet when he had less than a full season under his belt

My goodness , Holloway was struck in the throat with a puck in the Blues game. Was taken off on a stretcher. Hoping he’ll be okay and that it’s precautionary.

Weird play. He played his shift after the puck hit him then looks like he collapsed on the bench. Scary stuff

A kid I played with a bit died back in like 2012 due to a puck to the throat. I think he played for SSAC.

You don't f*** around in that area though, it probably started to swell and started blocking his airway. Let's hope its just precautionary.
