I still can't wrap my head around trading Faber for a 1 dimensional winger. Anyone with a clue about hockey knew it was a bad trade the day it was made. This deal will go down as 1 of the worst in Kings history.

Who are your top 3 worst King's GMs? I mean Blake will still continue to shit on himself - so its hard to rank him until he's gone - but how about based on his legacy to date.
Ranking the GM's:

1. Dean Lombardi
2. Rogie Vachon
3. Jake Milford
4. George McGuire
5. Dave Taylor
6. Larry Regan
7. Nick Beverly
.
About 5 layers of shit.
- McMaster the Disaster

Another 10 layers of shit.

haha.. GBH might accuse you of recency bias, but not me

As crazy as it sounds, I would in fact take JAD over PLD. But for the love of God, we don't have anyone better than JAD?
As Ive said before, JAD is like on of those very useful small tires that gets you to the gas station when u have a flat.. meanwhile Koala putting 40k miles on him. This is a guy that can slot in a lot of places.. a useful player you keep around for emergency duty. Its mind boggling they dont want to see if Turcotte can translate before his ELC expires - in no other org would this be happening... and Ive heard part of it his cap related.. f***ing make it work so stop being penny wise and dollar foolish.

I would hope they'd both be held accountable considering it was Luc and Blake that allegedly approached Uncle Phil with their plan before DL was fired.
Luc should be on the Appian Way with Blake right beside him.

I wanna see the research behind this ranking.
Just my memory and opinion, which is most of what I post here.

NOW the big worry turns to "what Dave Taylor russian roulette trade does Blake make to put a patch on the Titanic"

Any trade involving get rid of PLD would be good. Hell, I'd take Huberdeau at this point, even though he's more expensive and older.

Every time the Kings make a move I am always traveling and late to the news, no cell signal in the Upper-Peninsula of Michigan.

It wasn’t working, but it wasn’t working more because of Rob Blake’s incompetent management than it was because of coaching, not to say the coaching wasn’t poor too but Scotty Bowman and Gordon Bombay couldn’t win with this roster.

I think TMac deserved the coach of the year in 2021-2022 but since then it’s been all down hill.

Hiller will be Rob Blake’s version of Torchetti, we all know what happened after Torchetti, hopefully we see the same thing this summer.
Same here, just finding out. I thought Blake said there was zero consideration that Todd would be canned? Wonder if AEG is taking over the decisions?

It really isn't crazy. He is sound and tries. That all the Kings need.

The Kings should trade Lizotte, Lewis, Arvidsson, etc. at the TDL. Bring up Thomas and any other prospect doing well to see what they have. I haven't really followed the Reign, but I'm not including old man Tynan when I say prospects.

The Faber deal I was iffy on the time but Fiala is the most offensively skilled player since Palffy for LA. Was a deal for a potential game breaker and he is signed to a decent contract. Hopefully a new coach will get that deal back on track.

Faber is so good though

Kempe-Kopitar-Moore
PLD-Danault-Kaliyev
FIala-QB-Arvidsson
Turcotte-JAD

Anderson-Doughty
Gavrikov-Roy
Englund-Spence
Clarke

That is the roster I would ice when Arvidsson i back. If you need to move/scratch Grundtrsom and Lewis do it.

Horrible argument. Most fans grow to resent their team's GM/coach. But you can't argue with his results.
Notwithstanding your factually unsupported platitude about fans resenting GMs and coaches, I definitely can argue with the results. They made a run to the final in the f***ed up 2021 season that was clearly a fluke, as evidenced by their .500 P% the season before (which landed them the 12th and final spot for the 2020 play-in round), the decidedly middling underlying numbers in 2021 (18th-best record, 19th-best goal differential, 17th-ranked offense, and 18th-ranked defense), and the drop off the following season.

Otherwise, he had a pretty checkered record and dug the Canadiens into a deep hole they’re still trying to get out of without having ever built a sustained contender. Not to mention that his drafting generally sucked (Galchenyuk (third overall in 2012), McCarron (25th in 2013), Scherbak (26th in 2014), Juulsen (26th in 2015), and Kotkaniemi (third in 2018)…oh, and not to mention taking Mailloux). So yeah, he would be a pretty terrible option to take over as GM. I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who is arguing that the next GM should be an internal hire from this joke front office.

I honestly wonder who would be making decisions at this point...We'll know if we end up with Drouin or Huberdeau

Both the Fiala and PLD trades were absolute idiocy

Fiala is still a negative, matter of fact this team took Edmonton to 7 games with Reign and freebie acquisitions and no Fiala!
The guy might be good offensively but he can’t play a pick of D, takes stupider penalties than a young Kempe did and we gave up a young now #1 Dman?? The guy is the NHL version of Cedric Ceballos

Dave Taylor looks much, much better if Allison and Deadmarsh don't die. He actually made some pretty nice moves (Stumpel, Palffy/Smolinski, Allison, Return on Blake in a forced trade) but he butchered the 2003 draft and that sealed his fate.

Gets Gleason, Avery, Kuznetsov and two 1sts in the 2003 draft for Smolinski and Schneider at the trade deadline. Fantastic haul. Has three picks in arguably the greatest draft in history and goes 1 for 3. Brutal. Then he misses on Bergeron and Weber who go one and five picks after Pushkarev in the second round.

Needed to draft better but then he goes and picks Kopitar and Quick on the way out the door. I don't think he was horrible: he's better than Blake for sure.

Your ideal roster has Clarke in the press box?

Edit: Oh, 11F/7D? I'm not a fan of that.

Who was the biggest on the market UFA acquired by Lombardi? Was it Scuderi or Mitchell?

Pretty sure all the major acquisitions were trade and draft. His biggest miss at UFA was our friend Ilya Kovalchuk. Looks like Dean made the right call there. Too bad Rob wasn’t up to speed on how to slow roll it when his time came.

It’s hard to know where to rank Rob as a GM. He sucks, but in a brand new way compared to his equivalent predecessors. At the end of the day, if you’ve got one great GM and every other single one pretty much sucks, who cares how you rank the failures.

Hiller has zero NHL HC experience. It smacks of short term view on the entire situation and desperation because Blake had no plan.

Blake is a dummy's dummy. He is stupid as they come, no ability to think ahead. Since he gave Todd that one year contract this year he already knew this might happen (most coaches don't do well as lame ducks without another year on their deal). Todd already had one foot out the door and when then it happens he has to change him he has NOBODY lined up, no plan except use some guy who has never had any NHL HC experience take over his team he thinks is poised to challenge for the Cup? Totally not acceptable.

He essentially planned for this year to be a complete washout, with all their additions to elevate them knowing 2 key players are on the way down after this.

Blake is as dumb as they come and I am not happy having a no experience guy take the team right now because its admitting this season is done.

Blake should be internally banned from making any more trades this year because he's more likely to F this team up so his shit team can limp into the playoffs and get a 4-0 series loss. He's made enough moves, this team should not have any holes to fill and they sure don't have any cap space.
There is no point hiring the wrong coach now there will be more summer options, regardless of who the GM is.

If we are out of the playoffs it makes complete sense to trade pending UFA’s for something of value even if it’s just picks. I’m not suggesting they make moves for a playoff run, just get value from the assets they have that can be moved before they need new contracts (which we cannot afford). I don’t care who makes the deals.
