Figures.

They failed to make the playoffs and even though they're on their way up, DeBrincat wants to play for a contender. Though he is from Michigan and grew up a Red Wings fan so I could see him going there even though they're still rebuilding.
He probably wants to play not in Ottawa. I don't think it's a contention thing.

Ottawa has a great future ahead. It has nothing to do with the season they had. Like DHF it’s just Ottawa in general.

Also there are a few players ahead of him as “the guy” maybe he doesn’t want to be a complimentary player on that team.

We probably did the right thing trading him. He had a good season, but Korchinski may be the #1 dman we’ve needed for a long time.

Looking back at offseason and trade deadline deals.

Dach had a decent season going as a WINGER, and then got hurt again. He’s not going going to have a long career if he doesn’t figure out how to take contact.

McCabe has been rock solid for the Leafs, Lafferty beyond useless.

Domi struggling in Dallas with third line deployment as we all predicted.

Rangers fans are seeing that Kane is a problem with how he plays at all. Even complaining about his cheap price, we’ll see if he can turn it up for the playoffs.

Strome had 65 points! But as a lot of us predicted, the most useless 65 points a guy could score, and the Caps weren’t close to the playoffs.

So I’m good with the moves so far.

I'd take Cat back. He's a good influence, gives the young guys an outlet, has the proper work ethic.

I don't think they will bring him back unfortunately though.

Wonder where he and Kaner end up at. Hope it's going to be nice situations for both, dream would be if they ended up together.

They’re not going to pay for Cat is the thing. If he hits free agency next year, maybe they’d consider it. But no chance they give up assets to do so considering where we currently are in the rebuild.

I really think Kane is still injured and not 100%, he managed a short hot streak after a long rest but went back to how he played prior to that this year. At his age like Toews and Seabrook, there is no guarantee that he will bounce back after surgery or off season rehab or whatever he does to try to fix his hip or whatever else is hindering him.

I think McCabe is severely under rated. How he had a positive plus minus on this dumpster fire of a team is nothing short of a miracle.

I am okay with all of the trades, the one we want the do over on is Seth Jones obviously but people hold that trade against Jones as a player. He really is a rock solid defenseman. Probably the only blue chipper on this team not counting Reichel

Off year + injury that lingered + Necas establishing himself took some of TT icetime/PP oppurtunities

He missed about a month with an UBI that was not concussion.

Will be interesting to see if he has any surgery in offseason. Usually when someone has an UBI that isn't head/concussion related its shoulder injury.

Well if he makes it to free agency next year he can come back. Now that would be heist of a trade 2 years later.
It would be the greatest timeline.

No idea if he would want to come back after Davidson wronged him, but I suppose a hefty payday would make that all go away.

Did Davidson really wrong him though? From day one KD has said its going to be a full blown rebuild and gave no indication that he would prioritize extending anybody for a lot of money/term, Cat being one of them...But its rare guys get shipped out of town like that and end up coming back so he's probably going to become a UFA and end up a on team that thinks they're ready to win but also can afford to pay him a lot of money
