Ego. He wanted out of NYR because he couldn't beat out Shesi for the starting job. I gotta imagine he still thinks he has earned the starter job here as well.

No matter how big his ego is, he's not turning down millions of dollars. He hasn't made that much, and it's not exactly a guarantee he will get another NHL contract at this point.
