Or, ya know, his confidence issues are so bad, not even playing for his nation can help him right now.
Here is an explain like I am a HFboarder version.

Hockey players spend summer lifting weights to get stronger and faster.
Injured Petey no lift weight in summer because injury make him ouchie.
No lift weight Petey mean Petey no strong and no faster and sucky at hockey because other players faster and stronger.
Petey this summer no injury can lift weights. Lift weight Petey make Petey stronger and faster. Faster and stronger Petey no sucky at hockey.

Is there a guarantee that he is ever a "high" again?

I don't think there is. And that's over 10% of your cap being eaten up by this player.

There are no guarantees in life. I have conviction in this player though. I rarely have full conviction in any player.

I also think without us chanting for him in the playoffs, we’d be in a much dire situation right now and bother Miller and EP would be traded already.

That was the best f***ing thing we’ve ever done as fans. You watch.

I mean, sure, if you just ignore what Alvin said, and if you just ignore the fact that tons of players have far worse injuries and can’t train for similar or longer stretches, but yet come back playing far better than Pettersson. It’s incredible to me that’s it’s been accepted by some that because he rehabilitated an injury in the offseason (which again, isn’t some unique thing), he is scoring at around half the rate he normally does five months into the season. I’d love to smoke some of that copium.

Frankly, if his play is still bad because of an injury, I’m more inclined to believe his knee is still f***ed, rather than off season training at this point. We’ve seen elite players tear MCLs or ACLs, and be out months in season, and come back way closer to their normal effectiveness then Pettersson.
Yes ignore what Alvin said because all the f***ing data and prior medical f***up points to the fact his medical team sucks at what they do.

He should go on LTIR and hit up Ovechkins doctor then

Also we needed better ice. Has anyone here skated at the garage? It’s between two viaducts and has been for 30 years now. No foundation holds for that long I would think. Certainly in a city as humid as we have.

I think they’ve begun to rectify that since the emergence of Hughes.

Yes

You didn’t address my post, but OK.
I mean you also didn’t address what I said.
I’ve said that injury and lack of training are two separate issues, one caused another, sure but one being not an issue doesn’t mean the other will magically correct itself.
Injury lead to not enough training. Not injured anymore does not magically makeup for the lack of training. Muscles dont manifest out of thin air.
We’ve seen what happens when Petey is not injured and can train, which is almost every single season outside of this one. The fact we would question, well we don’t know if he can be the same Petey anymore if he has a healthy offseason is not one based on reason.

Alright, so assuming he's still bad next season after an offseason of conditioning training, will you still be using the injury excuse or will it shift into something else?

You have no clue what EP did or didn't do during the off season.

In order for this team to be a legitimate contender it needs a #1 C. The only way forward is to rest Petersson and hope he returns to his normal self. Selling for pennies on the dollar is not going to get us that #1C, and guarantees that Hughes leaves soon. Anyone suggesting trading Petey is a moron and deserves to be put on ignore lists just like Bobby9 and JohnnyCanucker

Was it Steven Stamkos who said his knee took a couple years to get full mobility in his knee after he got surgery?

EP could never skate like Stamkos and he shouldn’t even be trying. It’s just not his game.

He was compared to Datsyuk, not Stamkos. Don’t try to get a horse to do a dogs work.

I don’t put people on ignore lists just because they disagree with me. That’s why places like Reddit are a shit show these days. Echo chambers.

Why do you sound like you want to right about this?
Does it make you feel better if our star player is forever f***ed so you can win an argument?

What are you suggesting? That the substrate slab is wavy-gravy at Rogers?

Petey has had many occasions where hes been injured and the excuse is he cant train properly. When he had a hurt wrist he somehow couldnt skate or stay upright. If his knee needs lots of rest, strap him in a wheelchair and make his steamdeck 200 lbs. Im tired of this weak gen z gamer

I don’t, the agent said it.
You have no evidence that supports the fact the agent is lying.

At the end of the day, the same people beating the drum about trading Pettersson are going to be the same people calling for this management group's head if he is dealt + bounces back next season, you can book that for sure lmao

Why do you automatically assume that we want him to fail "in order to be right"?

It just seems like defending EP at this point is a massive cope. Why would the FO trade JT if it wasn't an emotional problem? Please explain that. If it was all a nagging injury that was causing his bad play, and management knew, why would they trade JT?

What the hell do the either of you two know about being a professional athlete is what I’d like to know Bobby.

You both have the same information available to you. It’s the same amount I have.

One take involves a lot more common sense than the other though, otherwise what's the point of training in the offseason lmfao

Because that’s how you guys present yourself. Put your own text into ChatGPT and ask it if it sounds like you want to be right.

You are assuming that the FO traded JT just for Petey and not because JT did something that destroyed the trust between him and the team and management group.

Obviously not the tournament Petey - or us - hoped he would have. And it’s harder to ignore given his last 12+ months of hockey. But the whole of team Sweden was constructed and deployed in a bit of an odd fashion, and I don’t think anyone there is going to be happy with how the tournament unfolded for them.

Hopefully there was some positive to take away from this for Petey - even if it was just getting a break from Vancouver for a bit.
