Bournival is doing well , 4 goals 2 assist in 7 games... in the AHL.

Always like Bournival, his injuries really hurt his development but I'm confident he will be back in the NHL. Would take him instead of Flynn but I guess it is a bias towards Quebecers

Feels more like a bias against players who cannot actually play, to be honest.

Or it's just your opinion of which you're entitled to. I have no idea why you felt you needed to add that last part other than to try and stir things up.

I still remember when people thought we gave away the swiss Bobby Orr when we traded Diaz for Weiss, That Weber was a 7th defenceman and a PP specialist, that Eller would be a monster in Washington.

Advanced stats are pretty bad, they just pollute the game of hockey, because people who likes them are zealots. If you torture the data long enough, it will confess to anything.

Nobody evaluated Diaz that highly. Some thought he might be a number four.

Nobody called Shea Weber a number 7 either. The worst anybody wrote was that he was a number 3.

Eller with a + tonight. Two shots on goal, 50% on the FO dot and Zero PP time. Only 48 seconds on the PK.

Idiot Caps coaches are holding Eller back. If they use him on the PP, this game never goes to OT.

I'm curious, who are you talking to when you and others say this? Nobody here thought Eller was going to tear it up in Washington, the argument has always been that Therrien messed up a chance to develop Eller's offensive game. You don't start doing that at 27 on another team.
Also, the point was that we knew who DD was, and he wasn't enough. On the flip side, Eller was still young with potential, we wanted to see what he could do BACK THEN. Not now that he's 27 and an established 3rd line center.

That's not true. Several people were saying that Eller was going to produce more because he will play under a good coach who knows how to use him, and because he will have better linemates.

OR, he never had top 6 potential and people were in denial.

MT had it right.

Ex Habs thread. Eller is an ex Hab.

If 27 is too old, then PK Cant step up his game as well since he's starting out on a new team? Right?

Eh... you weren't there to hear the Cult of Eller when he got traded? Whole bunch of guys saying it would be great for his career.

10 games later and we do have a typical Eller stat line to discuss...

No I think it was, "he could get over 30 playing on that team" So if you consider 30 points tearing it up, then he did pretty good while he was here.

I was one of those people who thought Eller would emerge in Washington. He's been given every chance to succeed so far, maybe he's just not that good.

Is this some kind of the 'da record' kind of comment because I don't get how this has to do with Eller's individual performance improving.

If Subban sucks because the Preds have a bad start, if DD is useful because we are 9-0-1 then the Caps' record shows that Eller is doing great.

Well, let's at least be consistent then.

7-2-1=Eller is great.
9-0-1=DD is a generational talent

:sarcasm:

Truth be told these things do work to an extent(comparing record and player performance) if the player is a KEY player. DD & Eller aren't, Subban is the #1 D-man. It certainly has a bigger impact given he plays nearly half the game.

Still, it's a team game so there's limits to this.

Are people really *****ing about eller in this thread? Really? The guy they replaced him with has one measly point more. ONE. While costing two 2nd rounders and paid more for the next 6 years. While one also plays on the PP with Therrien's favorite son while the other plays a more typical 3rd line role and PK. You can't play him as a defensive specialist and expect him to explode offensively at 27 years old even though all the signs pointed to hIm having potential. Didn't he lead the league in dzone starts at one point or something? We kept the worst center that has no value in this league and that's a fact.

It's like that whole Bergevin ******** saying galchenyuk may be or never be a center and then 5 years later winder why he's struggling at center! It's called development Pejorative Sluration. Neglect your kid for 5 years and see how they turn out.
