True.. Both guys seem to step up their games when the real games start during the playoffs. I'd still much prefer Eller as the 3rd line center and DD the one being moved out anyway they could.

Since his meeting with the NHL over his slewfoot early in the season Shaw hasn't really been his nasty old self though. Maybe it's just MT making him a better person though. :sarcasm:
Maybe Stephane Quintal suggested some yoga classes...

Head To Head Of Game #9:

Subban no points, Weber GWG.

Weber takes it.

Even 5, Weber 4, Subban 0.

Game #10 is tonight for Weber VS Vancouver, tomorrow for Subban VS Arizona.

Will Subban get on board? Will Weber tie Even? We'll know tomorrow night.

Looks like the Caps have made some changes amd moved Williams to the top line. Eller is playing with Oshie and Burakovsky. Those are some pretty good line mates.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Ellers ice time, played 13 mins but more than 3 of that was on the PK. Not looking a like a great trade for Washington, and looking very good for MB when you consider that Daneault can fill Ellers spot for much less cap hit.

Trotz tried Eller with Oshie and Burakovsky in Vancouver in the weekend. They looked good and Oshie scored. Eller didn't have a point on the play but he was part of the rush and he drew a Canuck D towards him, leaving Oshie more room to score. The kind of play someone makes that is as key to the goal as anything else but doesn't appear on a scoresheet (except as a +) and isn't measured by analytics.

Caps GM said Eller is faster and stronger than he expected so that's good for Lars that his GM is impressed regardless of his less than impressive production.

I stil think Habs are better off with Danault (the one who most probably made Eller expendable in MB's eyes) and Shaw (the one we got in a separate trade but seems like it was 1-for-1). And both Danault and Shaw were drafted because MB scouted them and pushed for the Hawks to draft them.

I hope he does well but I suspect they were hoping to get at least 30 points out of him. He's always had decent speed and size/strenght but has never been able to translate that into offensive production. If they ever make a made for TV movie on Sundin, Lars would be the perfect guy to play him.

Too much hair...

What happened to the Hamburglar?:laugh::laugh:

Injured.
I'm curious about what happens with him when healthy. I guess Anderson will spend more time with his family too. But they'll probably be stuck keeping three netminders in that case, at the expense of one roster spot.

Washington wanted someone better than Mike Richards. Eller is better and will provide his usual 20-26 points.

Eller is better than Richards, who isn't even an NHL player anymore. If their criteria was a guy thats better than Richards and can put up 20 points surely there were better options for 2 second rounders and 3.5mm cap hit. I suspect they felt, like a lot of guys here do, that Eller had much more to give then his usual 26 points.

Mitchell only a took a 7th, makes half that and can almost for sure put up 26 points playing the 15 mins a game Lars does. And be more physical, better defensively and win more draws. Mitchell started almost 70 percent of the time in his own end last year, played with worse players 3 mins less per game and still put up similar PPG numbers as Lars.

I just saw that Nashville lit up the scoreboard last night. Didn't check the Box Score.

How many goals/points did PK get?

I was waiting myself for a comment on PKs game nr. 9.

While he did not get points, he was +1, had 2 shots and the highest TOI in his team (24.26). No penalty minutes. That's the Box score - if anyone watched the game and wants to add something please do.

More significant - Rinne was at .966 while Varlamov was at 0.866.

Not a bad game for sure but IMO he loses the direct confrontation with Weber's game against Toronto. (game nr.9)

just curious, and this isn't meant sarcastically, how long is this head to head (and by head to head, I literally mean game to game) comparison going to last for?

Is there an expiration date on this?

I did not start it - Phil Parent did I think.

Anyway - I find it interesting that the only three people posting here (after a Subban decent game) are three "moderates" (who liked Subban and like Weber) and not the serious "anti trade" posters.

A lot have moved on. I will casually follow Subban but also realize its likely a 5 yr comparison and i wont invest that much time in it.

Id be interested to know who your "moderates are." I know one person posting here certainly isnt lol

I wasn't even aware of the last Nashville game to be honest.

I watched the first period only. He was playing much more conservative than in previous games I've watched. I actually like the conservative PK and thought he looked good. Had a nice chance on the PP. Made one bonehead cross ice pass that was intercepted and went for a 2 on 1.

Still playing with Eckholm, and behind Josi. But they looked dangerous last night.

Well to chime in its an improvement for PK to not get a minus last game and its nice to see that Lav's is trusting him with more minutes, I wonder if MT gave him a call and let him know to play more than a second D :amazed::amazed:

Now that Nash forwards broke out a bit he might be able to hop onto that offense train and pick up some points and slowly close the gap between him and Weber.

Bournival is doing well , 4 goals 2 assist in 7 games... in the AHL.

Always like Bournival, his injuries really hurt his development but I'm confident he will be back in the NHL. Would take him instead of Flynn but I guess it is a bias towards Quebecers
