Crickets on this thread. As it should be I suppose if you’re a NY football fan.

Being a Jets’ fan feels eerily similar to what I felt for the last 20+ years as an Isles’ fan until new ownership came in.

Are you listening Woody?

Goes to show you what’s possible with an inexperienced front office and coaching staff. Anything is possible.

I was up 20 points in fantasy in the 4th quarter last night and my opponent had Mark Andrews.......
I lost to Michael Pittman, Jr.....I needed to fade 18 points - he put up 21. Of course, its my own fault. For some stupid reason, I benched Herbert and started Sam Darnold....all because i took Matthew Berry's Love/Hate piece to heart. Just goes to show you that the experts don't know shit either.

I was going to bet on the Jets, thankfully I didn’t. Jets we’re getting three. For the people who did, they thought they were dead at 17-0. Then it looked like the Jets might get them a push with a late touchdown. But then, the rare call to kick the field goal and then go for the onside kick.

Made me recall how sports betting can give you a heart attack.

Ran into a Fantasy buzzsaw this week - Josh Allen, Mike Evans, Mike Williams, Chubb, Andrews, Zuerlein...

And then on my other team I lost Russell Wilson, Ridley, Kittle, Juju and Chris Carson all within 3 days lol

Fun week!

Sports gambling can give you quite a rush but the bad beats are killers.

A number of years ago in a cash fantasy football league I needed about 5 points from Demarco Murray in the final game to win.

He was one of the best RBs that year and should’ve gotten about 25 points on an average day. I check my phone for updates and see he has 4 points in the first quarter.
I keep checking and the total doesn’t budge. I find out the next day he fractured his ankle late in the first quarter.

That's why I don't gamble on sports. Too many unknowns and things outside of my control. At least with card games I'm making assessments in real time and then making decisions. Sports gambling is pretty much always just hoping something doesn't go terribly wrong.

I was down 45 points coming into last night and still down by at least 40 in the 3rd quarter. Opponent had Pittman, I had Lamar and Andrews. Within about 15 minutes of game time I went from 99% loss probability to 99% win  ended up winning the match 178-161.

And speaking of bad beats, my gf has Taylor and ended up losing her match by 0.1. One more carry in the 4th would've won it and he didn't get a touch. OOF

Don't feel too bad . . . I lost to a guy who set the all-time record for points in our league's history . . . Josh Allen, Ezekiel, Pitts, Najee, Claypool, M. Williams, etc.!

I’ve gambled plenty over the years but the highs from winning never came close to the lows from losing. I rarely partake nowadays except for maybe a yearly casino trip or a bet on the Derby.

It’s also pretty addictive for some and I’ve seen it destroy individuals and families.

With that being said, what’s the line on the Isles winning the Cup?

I play Blackjack at casinos, I live 15 minutes from one that I go to from time to time, but I go in with a set amount and don't go back to the ATM ever (except one time when I tried to make a deposit but apparently they don't let you do that). $250-ish is around my max that I'll sit with, generally less. If I get a few hours of fun out of it, awesome. If I double my money I'll pretty much just get up and leave on the spot regardless of how long I've been there.

Yahoo says 20 to 1. ;)

I’m preaching to the choir on this one but hear me out.

2 straight trips to the conference finals.
One game away from a Cup final last season against a team most would have expected the Isles to beat.
Isles’ team Captain now healthy.
Multiple younger players who arguably can get better with only a couple that might regress based on age.
Several key Conference rivals worse since last year.

Those circumstances get you 20-1? Maybe 17-1 on some sites I’ve just looked at. Looks like a big overlay.

Guess I’ll place a futures bet today.

I usually place a futures bet on the Islanders and Jets - figure for the Jets, if I do it every year, when they finally make the Super Bowl the tickets are somewhat paid for. Last year I got 30-1 on the Isles for a long while, we were looking pretty good. This year, I skipped the Jets. But if I can get 20-1 on the Isles, I'll definitely take that.

How’s this for gilding the lily?

Assuming the sports book allows in season futures bets, how about waiting until after the Isles opening road trip? Chances are, the odds will be even better then.

FanDuel has isles at +1500 for the cup

Loved the Argos late comeback, and winning it with a 51 yard field goal on the last play of the game.

I don’t want to turn this into a COVID thread but Aaron Rodgers… Really?

Assuming he’s not vaccinated, he’s lucky this didn’t happen on the eve of a playoff game.

And get rid of the man bun. It’s not a good look. (From what I can see though, he doesn’t need any help from me on the dating scene.)

He's done with dating, he's got Shailene

Mike White is going to disappoint the entire internet tonight. It seems as if Jets fans are the only ones prepared for the carriage to turn back into a pumpkin.
