No Italian grandmother would put basketball-sized meatballs on top of a plate of spaghetti. It's not an Italian dish, it's an Italian-American dish, and there's all the difference in this world!
There is a difference … if you’re dining in Italy. Since most of us posting here are in North America, most standards for Italian recipes and service are normally not followed as they are applied in Italy.

However, if I were to dine in Italy, I’d certainly be very mindful of them: The Rules for Eating in Italy Explained by the Locals

Got an ice cream machine and my first test was obviously using coconut milk, a little bit of macadamia nut milk to make it "healthier", maple syrup, vanilla and a small dash of soy sauce. :3

Is this a thing? Bet you most don’t realize that mushrooms have an outer skin. Also, I’ve seen some claim that if we saw how mushrooms were grown, we’d all do this.

Where would the discovery be? Did you want to wash them with water??

There is no real discovery. I’ve never seen anyone peel the outer skin, is all. I’m not convinced it’s even necessary. Was just wondering if anyone did.

I’m going with this but others may see it differently:

“… mushrooms do not need to be peeled like other vegetables. Mushrooms are grown in very clean, sterile environments, in a special type of moist dirt. That dirt is easily rinsed off the mushrooms under running water. Peeling the mushrooms is simply time-consuming and will not make the dish any better.”

Mushrooms are never washed with water, not even mushrooms like those in the photo which are the easiest to find and treat. And there's a very specific reason why they shouldn't be washed with water and whoever wrote that stuff better not cook.

Caipirinha, is the national drink of Brazil that I had no idea existed until I was presented with one in a bar along Ipanema beach last month. Basically it's crushed ice, lime juice, sugar and a locally grown sugar cane fermented into a hard liquor called "Cachaca" and probably banned in most international countries.
I read somewhere that it was originally invented as a cure for the Spanish flu in Portugal in the early 20th century.
The first impression after tasting is that of an overly sweet lime juice, then after about 3 seconds your taste buds and the back of your throat starts screaming. Locals drink it casually like water. I was wasted after 1 drink and couldn't eat properly for 3 days

Of course , mushrooms can be washed.

What is your specific reason for not washing ?

Because they absorb water, and this thing alters, as well as the color, even the flavor. They are a delicate and particular food, it cannot be treated and eaten as if they were cherries taken from a tree. There are several ways to clean them without having to kill them with water. If I think you would treat a Porcino with water I feel bad.

Don't feel bad. I do wash regular button mushrooms. The amount of water they absorb is negligible.I do not soak them. I do not wash specialty mushrooms

Come on please, never wash them with water, neither those you call buttons (whose real name is champignon or field mushrooms) nor the more important ones. They are exactly like sponges, so the water they absorb is certainly not negligible.

First of all,no Nonna would be able to handle a meatball that size let alone find a pot to cook it in.lol.

Obviously? why? Coconut milk or cream is not the typical base FYI. And you don't need a machine to make icecream BTY.

Most store bought mushrooms come from greenhouses and just need to be brushed off if any particles, can use a damp cloth or a quick rinse, a little dampness is no biggie. After all, dehydrated mushrooms are reconstituted in water, certainly will not detrimentally affect the end product.

My post was semi sarcastic with the obviously. Also because I like vegan stuff and weird combinations.

It's also for soft ice-cream. I tried making it in the freezer and the texture just isn't the same.

Ya,that's on me, sometimes when it's approaching the bewitching hour, not as sharp on occasion. Should have realized it was sarcasm though,as if there is such a thing as ''healthy'' ice cream.lol.
I like soft ice cream as well, but when I want hard, just sprinkle a little viagra on it.lol.

I’d suggest our “what to do” thread: The ''What to do in Montreal'' Thread version 5.0

It doesn’t have all the answers but directed you there cause posters tend to answer the type of questions you asked, in that thread.
