My wife is first generation American of Italian decent. I don’t know exactly what she does besides using veal pork and beef. Magnificent!I thought this was helpful in avoiding some of the pitfalls when making meatballs: The 8 Most Common Meatball-Making Mistakes

There is a difference … if you’re dining in Italy. Since most of us posting here are in North America, most standards for Italian recipes and service are normally not followed as they are applied in Italy. No Italian grandmother would put basketball-sized meatballs on top of a plate of spaghetti. It's not an Italian dish, it's an Italian-American dish, and there's all the difference in this world!
Is this a thing? Bet you most don’t realize that mushrooms have an outer skin. Also, I’ve seen some claim that if we saw how mushrooms were grown, we’d all do this.
There is no real discovery. I’ve never seen anyone peel the outer skin, is all. I’m not convinced it’s even necessary. Was just wondering if anyone did.Where would the discovery be? Did you want to wash them with water??

I’m going with this but others may see it differently:
“… mushrooms do not need to be peeled like other vegetables. Mushrooms are grown in very clean, sterile environments, in a special type of moist dirt. That dirt is easily rinsed off the mushrooms under running water. Peeling the mushrooms is simply time-consuming and will not make the dish any better.
Of course , mushrooms can be washed.Mushrooms are never washed with water, not even mushrooms like those in the photo which are the easiest to find and treat. And there's a very specific reason why they shouldn't be washed with water and whoever wrote that stuff better not cook.

What is your specific reason for not washing ?
Don't feel bad. I do wash regular button mushrooms. The amount of water they absorb is negligible.I do not soak them. I do not wash specialty mushroomsBecause they absorb water, and this thing alters, as well as the color, even the flavor. They are a delicate and particular food, it cannot be treated and eaten as if they were cherries taken from a tree. There are several ways to clean them without having to kill them with water. If I think you would treat a Porcino with water I feel bad.

First of all,no Nonna would be able to handle a meatball that size let alone find a pot to cook it in.lol.No Italian grandmother would put basketball-sized meatballs on top of a plate of spaghetti. Obviously? why? Coconut milk or cream is not the typical base FYI. And you don't need a machine to make icecream BTY.Got an ice cream machine and my first test was obviously using coconut milk, a little bit of macadamia nut milk to make it "healthier", maple syrup, vanilla and a small dash of soy sauce. :3
Most store bought mushrooms come from greenhouses and just need to be brushed off if any particles, can use a damp cloth or a quick rinse, a little dampness is no biggie. After all, dehydrated mushrooms are reconstituted in water, certainly will not detrimentally affect the end product.Of course , mushrooms can be washed.

My post was semi sarcastic with the obviously. Also because I like vegan stuff and weird combinations.First of all,no Nonna would be able to handle a meatball that size let alone find a pot to cook it in.lol.

Ya,that's on me, sometimes when it's approaching the bewitching hour, not as sharp on occasion. Should have realized it was sarcasm though,as if there is such a thing as ''healthy'' ice cream.lol.My post was semi sarcastic with the obviously. Also because I like vegan stuff and weird combinations.
It's also for soft ice-cream. I tried making it in the freezer and the texture just isn't the same.
I’d suggest our “what to do” thread: The ''What to do in Montreal'' Thread version 5.0Gonna be in Montreal in your summer and looking for recommendations for Chinese food in Chinatown,Greek on the island and game meat withing a few hours drive.
Should be interesting after so long,Redpath museum still going? want to check that out, used to love going there when had time to kill, merci.
I did! pretty useless don't you think? It's a shame there isn't a ''where to find'' recommenced cuisines. No matter, stay in touch with a few former mates that can steer us in the right direction when the time comes. One mentioned that you can no longer park on Mcgill campus, bit of a bummer.I’d suggest our “what to do” thread: The ''What to do in Montreal'' Thread version 5.0
It doesn’t have all the answers but directed you there cause posters tend to answer the type of questions you asked, in that thread.I did! pretty useless don't you think? It's appears rather stagnate and not exclusively dedicated to food as this thread is.No biggie, was just cross-referencing anyhow, thx anyways. It doesn’t have all the answers but directed you there cause posters tend to answer the type of questions you asked, in that thread.
