The Kings have hit the 90 point mark with 5 games left -- in the thick of a playoff race. I doubt anyone would have predicted that being possible if you would have told them that Doughty would play less than half the season...and what a season it has been when looking back at the last few years of miserable on-ice product.

If the boys miss out on the playoffs, it will definitely be disappointing, but not a failure. Looking forward to the next two weeks...lets f***ing go!

Agreed. I’m really happy with the team and the way the season has evolved. I felt that 85 points was ambitious for this team going into the season, and they blew that expectation out of the water. Whatever their faults, you can’t argue with the results. The fact that a bunch of rookies have gotten in substantial playing time is an added bonus.

I'm more disappointed with how are rookies (other than the D) played this season and couldn't take control. We may get in the playoffs, but it will be because of new vets we brought it like Arvy and Danault. The only bright spot was Moore, who was the break-out young player. I also like Kalyiev's play. I think he showed a lot of potential and will be a strong player in the coming seasons. I know Byfield is young and needs to grow into his body etc., but I didn't see anything inspiring in his play. For example, Kempe couldn't score when he first broke in, but you could see his promise. He was fast, could carry the play, and was good at driving into the O zone. Byfield just seems vanilla. Vilardi couldn't grab a spot. Turcotte with his injuries and no show of any real talent. Very concerned about the future.

The Kings rebuild is definitely not done. We are going to have to strike gold by holding onto our picks and picking well in the later rounds. Too bad we couldn't land a top talent during the past few years, but I guess the drafts were not very deep. No McDavids or Matthews around to pick.

The youth have lots left to show--they aren't busting, they are behind, due to injuries and slow cooking.

Byfield will be good for 40 pts next season, but break out big after that.

Kaliyev already has 25 points--should finish with 15-15-30 despite usage. Dwight King got that spending an entire season next to Kopitar--AK got it with as much ice time as it takes to tie your skates. Future is bright for this kid. He was absolutely f***ing cruising last night.

Anze will lead the team in scoring for the millionth time. Legendary career.

Bless Kempe, 33 goal scorer, could hit 35+, will be a 50+ point guy. That's an amazing accomplishment and huge growth from what we saw in earlier years.

Danault...no one in the world saw 25-25-50. Maybe the points, but not the goals. Cog for arguably the best line in the NHL.

Arvidsson with a great bounceback year and what an investment from blake. 60 point pace, wont hit it due to injuries, but we got exactly the guy he has been his whole career otherwise.

What else ist here to say about Thousand Oaks Native? NHL SHG leader...

Drew Doughty was poised to have the best year of his career. That bodes well for the near future at least. And with a good team around him...

Brown is not content to limp into the sunset. Glad he got the rest he needed.

Durzi, Spence, et. al. playing 20 minutes a night admirably is amazing.

Much like DL had to overcome his earlier failures, TM has a rare opportunity here and I hope he doesn't squander it. This year has shown he has an identity and system in mind and the team is flying when they're on. His weakness has always been game management and readjustments. Hope we make the playoffs and I hope he shows us he's learned something and maybe just not showing all his cards.

Frankly, I believe the premise of the thread is flawed; what some are seeing as negativity is actually us seeing opportunity for even more.

I assume we are all guilty of being negative sometimes but this board has been so miserable lately. It's mostly hyperbole, negativity and attacking other posters. Even some posters I used to really enjoy reading the opinion of have been dragged down to that level.

Looking forward to reading this thread as somewhat of a counter balance. I'm psyched for the team to be in this position in the standings. I did not expect it, especially considering the injuries. They're once again in control of their own destiny and if the Habs can go to the finals last season then so can the Kings. I mean I wouldn't bet on it but hey, anything can happen.

Really just addressing the bolded part.....because that's fundamentally flawed, everyone says take XXXXX off of PP1 and it will be better....or put XXXXX on PP1 and it will be better.......

If you want to say do this because it can't be any worse.....that's fine.....but then there are repercussions of doing XXXX....doesn't mean we turn out where we are, or better....

There is not a single perfect, coach, player, GM, in the league, but for f*** sake, can we really stop pretending that a guy who has had 1,000 games coached, is f***ing clueless about the game? I mean seriously?
