Seems like more Elvis drama
What else could he mean by "something has happened" but he's not getting into it. Especially carrying all 3 now. Can't be good. Unless it's just a kick in the ass to Elvis and Tarry. We'll find out soon probably.Tarasov has played twice in the last month. Clearly no trust there. We don’t know what kind of discussions go on in the organization.
Could be anything so I’m not making assumptions because you what happens when you assume.
with all the busy schedule coming up its a call up cause tarry is unplayableWhat else could he mean by "something has happened" but he's not getting into it. Especially carrying all 3 now. Can't be good. Unless it's just a kick in the ass to Elvis and Tarry. We'll find out soon probably.
a coach can bench a player when hes not playing well? but you dont think he should bench a goalie? weird take.It amazes me how it is always everyone else's fault because Elvis doesn't play well. He was outplayed by his backups the past two seasons behind the same team. Maybe we should go get another goalie coach for him. Why should the head coach be protecting him? He is getting paid to be the no. 1 goalie.
The Bruins didn't yank Swayman last night while he was giving up eight goals, and they also have a backup that is outplaying him by quite a bit.

you dont give the guy credit when he plays well and you cry when he has a bad game. a new goalie doesn't fix this dog sh*t team
Well Tarasov has played twice in a month and is getting passed over for a start. What else could he mean by "something has happened" but he's not getting into it. Especially carrying all 3 now. Can't be good. Unless it's just a kick in the ass to Elvis and Tarry. We'll find out soon probably.
sorry i dont mean you! i just mean our fans right now, i dont think Elvis deserves to be the whipping boy.Not sure where I said a coach can or can't bench a goalie. As far as giving Elvis credit, I have when he has a good game. I said nothing about him being the reason we lost last night. In fact, I don't think defense or goaltending played as big a part in losing last night as the lack of offense did. They couldn't generate squat, and couldn't answer back until late 2nd period.
I pretty much stay out of the game threads so not sure when I am crying about Elvis. I have pretty much held the same opinion of him since he's been here. Not as great as people think, but not as bad either. I see him as slightly below average.
I do wonder how it is whenever he is bad, it's the guys in front of him, but when any one of our other goalies are bad, its because they suck and has nothing to do with the players in front of them.
No problem.sorry i dont mean you! i just mean our fans right now, i dont think Elvis deserves to be the whipping boy.
i do enjoy your thoughts and you bring alot of great stuff to this board.
Not disagreeing with your post, but part of Elvis' beef last year was that he was a No 1 goalie. Playing a lot of games comes with that so he needs to figure out a way to play better carrying a heavy workload if he wants to be considered a No 1. If he can't, then he is just another guy.Well Tarasov has played twice in a month and is getting passed over for a start.
Maybe they both need a kick in the ass but Elvis could also use a rest in addition because his play has suffered the more he has played over the last week. Elvis has played 12 games to Tarasov’s 2 over the last month.
In average yes. But a 12-2 split over the last 30 days is more than most goalies go these days. Nobody is out there starting 70 games a season any longer like Martin Brodeur used to.Not disagreeing with your post, but part of Elvis' beef last year was that he was a No 1 goalie. As it is now, based on the percentage of games he has played this year, it would put him around 55 GP. That's a lower workload for a No 1.
True, but I was thinking more like 60-65 starts. Even so, you still have to figure in playoffs also if you get that far. Bob played 58 regular season games last year, plus 24 in the playoffs. Vasilevskiy played 77 total games in their first cup run and 86 in their 3rd run, including playoffs. In average yes. But a 12-2 split over the last 30 days is more than most goalies go these days. It’s a bit excessive and giving Tarasov just 1 more start during that period falls more in line with goaltender workloads these days.
That's fair but marathon training is different than sprint training. Elvis has been ridden hard for the last month. Could this mean he plays better with a slightly lesser workload later in the year?True, but I was thinking more like 60-65 starts. Bottom line is if you're a number 1 goalie, and expect to make a deep playoff run, you're going to play a lot of games. If you're fatigued in mid December already, that's not good. Vasilevskiy has started 22 games to 4 for the backup this season. Bob is similar to Elvis with a 19-10 split, but is also 36 years old. Saros has started 24 to his backups 5. Vasi and Saros are pretty close to a 12-2 ratio of games this season.
Twelve starts in 30 days seems like a lot, but there was still 18 off days to rest. These guys are built for this and should be able to handle it.
I'm disappointed with Tarasov. I was hoping he was putting it together at the end of last year, but he hasn't shown anything this year. It's too bad, but I agree that Tarasov being released is a probability. That's fair but marathon training is different than sprint training. Elvis has been ridden hard for the last month. Maybe they were testing to see how he handled it. Maybe they did it out of necessity because they know Tarasov isn't capable of doing it. Maybe its all of the above but we are not a playoff team and I think they all know that. It's all about putting people in situations and seeing what sticks.
I do think Elvis is due for a rest to reset. Sometimes a day to clear your head and work with the coaches might help when the opportunity is afforded.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see Tarasov waived or dealt if Jet proves he's ready for NHL time since his deal next year is a 1 way..
Not adding much new here, but I'll chime in...
I was ready to move on from Elvis after all the drama last year, but he's played well this year. I'm not holding a bad game against him when the team looked like hot garbage for most of the game yesterday. The reality is that there is currently little confidence in Tarasov it seems. So, I expect the Greaves callup is more about Tarasov's play than it is about Elvis.
He had a stretch of playing well followed by a stretched where he hasn't played terrible well.if you think elvis has played well this season then I can’t imagine what you’d think of even an average goalie’s play this season like Logan Thompson for example.
