Tarasov has played twice in the last month. Clearly no trust there. We don’t know what kind of discussions go on in the organization.

Could be anything so I’m not making assumptions because you what happens when you assume.
What else could he mean by "something has happened" but he's not getting into it. Especially carrying all 3 now. Can't be good. Unless it's just a kick in the ass to Elvis and Tarry. We'll find out soon probably.

It amazes me how it is always everyone else's fault because Elvis doesn't play well. He was outplayed by his backups the past two seasons behind the same team. Maybe we should go get another goalie coach for him. Why should the head coach be protecting him? He is getting paid to be the no. 1 goalie.

The Bruins didn't yank Swayman last night while he was giving up eight goals, and they also have a backup that is outplaying him by quite a bit.
a coach can bench a player when hes not playing well? but you dont think he should bench a goalie? weird take.

you dont give the guy credit when he plays well and you cry when he has a bad game. a new goalie doesn't fix this dog sh*t team

Not sure where I said a coach can or can't bench a goalie. As far as giving Elvis credit, I have when he has a good game. I said nothing about him being the reason we lost last night. In fact, I don't think defense or goaltending played as big a part in losing last night as the lack of offense did. They couldn't generate squat, and couldn't answer back until late 2nd period.

I pretty much stay out of the game threads so not sure when I am crying about Elvis. I have pretty much held the same opinion of him since he's been here. Not as great as people think, but not as bad either. I see him as slightly below average.

I do wonder how it is whenever he is bad, it's the guys in front of him, but when any one of our other goalies are bad, its because they suck and has nothing to do with the players in front of them.

Well Tarasov has played twice in a month and is getting passed over for a start.

Maybe they both need a kick in the ass but Elvis could also use a rest in addition because his play has suffered the more he has played over the last week. Elvis has played 12 games to Tarasov’s 2 over the last month.

Keep in mind we have 3 games in 4 nights too so we’ll see how this weekend plays out and who gets starts. Will they each get one? Is someone still left on the bench? Who is dressing as the backup tomorrow?

Not disagreeing with your post, but part of Elvis' beef last year was that he was a No 1 goalie. Playing a lot of games comes with that so he needs to figure out a way to play better carrying a heavy workload if he wants to be considered a No 1. If he can't, then he is just another guy.

As it is now, based on the percentage of games he has played this year, it would put him around 55 GP. That's a lower workload for a No 1.

In average yes. But a 12-2 split over the last 30 days is more than most goalies go these days. Nobody is out there starting 70 games a season any longer like Martin Brodeur used to.

It’s a bit excessive and giving Tarasov just 1 more start during that period falls more in line with goaltender workloads these days.

Not adding much new here, but I'll chime in...

I was ready to move on from Elvis after all the drama last year, but he's played well this year. I'm not holding a bad game against him when the team looked like hot garbage for most of the game yesterday. The reality is that there is currently little confidence in Tarasov it seems. So, I expect the Greaves callup is more about Tarasov's play than it is about Elvis.

True, but I was thinking more like 60-65 starts. Even so, you still have to figure in playoffs also if you get that far. Bob played 58 regular season games last year, plus 24 in the playoffs. Vasilevskiy played 77 total games in their first cup run and 86 in their 3rd run, including playoffs.

Bottom line is if you're a number 1 goalie, and expect to make a deep playoff run, you're going to play a lot of games. If you're fatigued in mid December already, that's not good. Vasilevskiy has started 22 games to 4 for the backup this season. Bob is similar to Elvis with a 19-10 split, but is also 36 years old. Saros has started 24 to his backups 5. Vasi and Saros are pretty close to a 12-2 ratio of games this season.

Twelve starts in 30 days seems like a lot, but there was still 18 off days to rest. These guys are built for this and should be able to handle it.

As I’ve contested since day 1, he’s the same goalie he’s always been. And he’s seemingly been an issue in the locker room for the same amount of time.

I’m amazed that anyone can think he’s a good goalie. Players don’t change from bad-to good-to bad-to good-to bad again.

It’s been easy to see who the problem players have been and why the team continues to lose games.
