I've been watching it too and its good, but not as good as Sunderland til I Die which you can stream on Netflix. Both story lines are similar, but the Sunderland doc is about a team on its way down, not up.

I've been a life-long Newcastle supporter and I hate Sunderland, they are our arch rivals. But even I have a small amount of compassion for what those supporters have gone through over the last 5 years.
just watched the first two episodes, very entertaining thanks again

Somebody in Los Angeles pushed the wrong button

View attachment 580816

An emergency alert that appeared on television on Wednesday telling residents about an "immediate evacuation notice" for Los Angeles and other areas was broadcast in error, authorities said.

Confused residents took to Twitter to share screenshots of the message that interrupted programming.

"Emergency Alert System. A civil authority has issued an IMMEDIATE EVACUATION NOTICE for the following counties or areas," the message said.

The list included Los Angeles and Ventura, California, as well as Eastern North Pacific Ocean, and Port Conception to Guadalupe Island.

It’s been close to 10 years i think, since my last flight, and that was a very troubling journey for a couple reasons. I know i like the wing seats. No, i require wing seats. I need a window and the wing as a point of reference in the sky, so when the wing dips i can see the turn as it happens.

I should try to download a nice long movie. Maybe Heat, which for some reason I’ve been wanting to watch again. I also have the Nintendo switch that i haven’t played and could bring. The issue is that I’m usually fixated on the window, and i stay that way until it’s time to get out
You can now select your seat and in your profile on the airline website you can state your seat preference. I always get a window. If i want to fall asleep I can prop up my sweater as a pillow and pass out for a bit.

I also like to sit on certain sides of the plane and if I can avoid a 3 seat row I snag it. I also select my row number based on my favorite Bruins so often I will snag either 11 or 23 and if I do fist class I choose 4 if available. The only time I break this is if a row 2 window is open and I have the money for the first class upgrade.

I realize I sound absolutely neurotic but it works and saves me from breaking down.

I am so glad I was able to give my mom some stuff when she was here 2 weeks ago so now packing to go back out in November is going to be a lot less stressful

That doesn’t sound neurotic to me. At all! That sounds like you know what works and you go with it. I get it.

Flying to California Saturday morning. The anxiety is in full swing. Doc gave me Ativan, which I have never taken.

Anyone have any experience with it?
Yes. I have a .5 RX that I only use for traveling, severe debilitating back pain or I just literally am struggling with things. It helps. It doesn't knock me out; it takes the edge off so my nervous system stays more regulated. I don't have any fogginess or head swimming. You probably won't notice it if you take it, you'll just struggle less.

It's physically exhausting for me just to get to the airport and usually it's about a 7-10 day recovery from round trip flights, but that is because my body is uniquely weak on the left. Ativan makes it manageable.

We fly out at 5am tomorrow for a wedding in North Carolina. My first ever time not flying direct. We are first class so that will be less restrictive physically for me. I will probably use 2 pills for the weekend, maybe three if the wedding is loud.
I recommend it.

Flying to San Francisco. Getting the lay of the land on Saturday. Touristy stuff Sunday. Heavy stuff Monday. Picking up a car Tuesday and driving the coast to San Diego. Flying back on a red eye from San Diego next weekend.

I’m excited, terrified, sad, just everything.
Highly recommend Balboa Park in SD. If they are testing the organ playing, the kids will go nuts. The Japanese Garden is nice as well.

Oh one other thing I did to help me with flying...I watched EVERY youtube on flying crashing, engineering etc. It helped me understand the flying process and what the landing gear sounds like....why turbulence is scary but rarely dangerous, and how the air works around the plane. It really helped, like, truly. I felt informed and now I rarely get nervous. Sometimes I get jumpy at landing, I hate the decent feeling in my belly.

Take a look at Arizona, specifically West of Phoenix. The weather is only yech about 6 weeks a year. There's a lot of industry growing here, and by growing I mean like wildfire. Lots of opportunity and lots of housing. Prices are leveling off.

I haven't been to southern Arizona, but on our recent US trip we stayed in Flagstaff for a couple of nights. Originally we just picked it as a convenient base for visiting the Grand Canyon, but we ended up being really impressed with the town itself. Great little vibrant downtown, some good restaurants, plenty of shops and services, it at least felt safe, good climate, and lovely surrounds with the hills and pine forests. Struck both my wife and I as being a really decent play to live.

One of my first pieces of advice when asked by people going to America who want to see more beyond the typical tourist spots is to seek out the college towns, like Flagstaff itself or, on the other side of the country, Burlington in VT. They usually tend to be solid places that have a good vibe and a bit going on. Generally well worth checking out.

The Quiet Corner
I had a blast with my sister at the beach Wednesday. Of course I am now redder than a steamed Maine lobster despite prodigious amounts of sunscreen spray. Then again it is a tradition with me- go to the beach, get fried. I went to work yesterday but otherwise laid pretty low, I wasn't feeling that great. Today I feel much better.

It was a perfect day- about 85 degrees & the water temp was around 70-75. Little wind and almost no people as everybody is back to work/school. It was a great way to end the summer.

Now on to the fall....

San Diego is one of my very favorite cities in the whole world. Very walkable. The waterfront area, ethnic neighborhoods with great restaurant.s. The zoo also outstanding. So much to offer.
Spending a couple days down there as well. We are doing the zoo for sure, and my head is spinning when I think of what to do and see other than that. There's so much on the list, and my anxiety is preventing me from thinking about anything other than just getting there.

It's supposed to be insanely hot I think. A little nervous about that as I do not do well in the heat. But we will prepare.

I'll try to remember to update the group when I get there, just a check in to say hello =]

Maybe the city or state can try doing literally anything to prevent this every year? Just a thought. are signs everywhere on Sturrow/Soldier’s Field and Mem Drive. On top of that there are hanging chains on the bridge.
It is baffling that this keeps happening.

There are signs everywhere on Sturrow/Soldier Field/Mem Drive. You can’t blame gps any longer.

I guess the only real solution is to station State Troopers along all 3 roads and at every enterance to prevent these incidents but is that truly the best use of law enforcement?

They did place a Statie at Levritt Circle today so I would imagine that will be the new normal through this weekend.

Signs are nice in theory, but I have to assume it's usually out of towners that are clipping the tops of the vans. It's not a very easy area to navigate even for seasoned veterans. Add traffic and the stress of moving and I can understand why somebody would miss the sign.

I like the little dangly things posted above. That, coupled with some well lit signage before and after them would help I bet. First thing someone's gonna do when they hear a noise all across the roof is look up. If they see flashing lights and a warning about what that sound was then crisis averted.

It's most definitely out of town college students and/or their parents. Hence Fenway's mention of "Allston Christmas", which is a nod to all the free crap you can find abandoned on the street by students moving from one apartment to the next.

Lived in San Diego for 5 years. Met my wife and got married there. My wife is from Santa Barbara. You'll swing by there on your drive south. If you are looking for things to do in San Diego, here are some of my favorites.

San Diego Zoo
Balboa Park
Old Town Mexican Cafe
(in Old Town). Fantastic food and not too expensive.
Pacific Beach, especially if its hot. Rent a surf board and catch some easy waves on the north side of the pier. They also offer lessons for the kids.
Padres game at Petco Park is a great venue as well.
Mt Soledad. Really great views and a tough little mile long hike that starts and ends at the veterans memorial. If its hot, pass on this. But a great place to watch a sunset.
Tour USS Midway aircraft carrier. There's a great Seafood place right next door called Top of the Market. I proposed to my wife after having dinner there.
Hotel del Coronado has a phenomenal brunch on Sundays in their Crown Room. You can watch the Navy SEALs BUDs class trying to bring their boats up on the rock jetty right next door if they have a class in session.
