I'd like to look at the shot chart to be honest. Yes they outshot the Devils, it didn't feel like they got many high scoring opportunities IMO. I thought a saw a lot of point shots where Schneider saw the puck clean with no traffic in front. If that's the case, out Corsi us all day.

I think the difference was that there was traffic in front of Anderson. Maybe you could say he should of had Gibbon's goal, but I think it's a little hard to fault him for the rest, even Coleman's goal.

The shot chart doesn't support what you think you saw. The reality is Schneider simply made a lot more saves on high quality chances. There's nothing wrong with that, goalies are part of the team.

Good win against an elite team, but I still don't see it with the Devils. That d-core is absolutely horrid. That being said, their quick, dynamic forwards and great goaltender could very well sneak them in the playoffs.

Horrid is a little unfair, they're not great by any means but Greene and Severson are solid players and Santini is coming along nicely. Butcher has impressed as well, Moore is Moore and Mueller is still finding his feet. With Schneider backing them up id say they are very serviceable.

Fast, exciting team with a great goalie. Really like that Bratt kid, he's dancing through defences multiple times per game, every game. Hard to believe that he had so little hype, he's got legit talent.

Hard to say how well the Devils maintain this, but I don't think playoffs are out of the question.

I never thought I'd say this, but the Devils are one of the more entertaining teams to watch this season.

Vegas 3-0
New Jersey 3-0
Colorado 3-1

Is this some sort of alternate universe?

I strongly disagree with the poster who said the Devils 'D' is horrid.

Because if the Devils 'D' is horrid as that person said, what does that make the Leafs 'D'?

I mean the final score indicates that the Devils 'D'(yes, Cory is amazing, we know....lol) isn't as bad as is being stated.

The Blackhawks gave up 3 goals and then lost in OT against the Leafs. Is their 'D' horrid, too? :dunno:

If the metro wasn't the metro they could certainly have a shot. But they're shooting at an absurd rate which will obviously not be sustained and I do expect some growing pains for the kids. Unless Schneider goes god mode all season I think we'll fall a little short. Future is bright though, thank you Shero.

I like the Leafs, they're a fun ass team to watch, but elite? Already? Not yet.
yeah just some gentle ribbing.

It depends on your definition of elite I guess. Elite offensively? I'd say so. Elite defensively? Not exactly. It'll be interesting to see where we end up this year

The thing that's impressed me most about the Devils through 3 games this year is something nobody is talking about yet, which is the 4th line.

Three games this season, and tonight makes it 3 for 3 that the Devils 4th line has absolutely dominated the other team's 4th line.

Gibbons-Coleman-Noesen in 3 Games played are a combined 4G, 1A, +8, 19 SOG.

That's ridiculous for a 4th line.

Avs fan here. I'm very impressed with New Jerey. You coud see that they had something special brewing even in pre-season. Hischier looks incredible, Jesper Bratt is making every amateur scout in the world look like a fool, and MoJo was a great acquisition. Suddenly they have enviable offensive depth, and a deadly power play. And that's even with Zajac out. I know it's extremely early but I think they are a playoff team, whereas other surprisng teams like Vegas and Colorado are still probably not even though they are also having hot starts. I will try to watch NJ when I can. I have never said that before, lol.

Ten, even twenty years ago this thread title would be an oxymoron.

In fact I remember a stickied thread back in 2004 "the New Jersey devils are boriiiiing"

There were probably people calling them "boring" when they finished 2nd and 1st in goals for when they went to back-to-back Cup Finals.
