yeah. but dominated by the devils? jeez.

the devils are starting to assemble a great young team. I'm not knocking them. they've had a great start.

9 times out of 10 the Leafs win that game, but hey, Cory Schneider is a great goalie, and he's a part of the team. he will win you more like that.

but lets not act like without Cory Schneider putting up a monster performance the devils win. i think we all know that isn't true.

that Zacha is a hell of a player too.
9 times out of 10 the Leafs will not get 8 powerplays and two long 5 on 3s. Devils matched them and even outperformed at even strength tonight.

What? Devils had a 6-2 win over the Flyers in March.

Should probably read first 6-goal game against the Leafs since a game in 2006. I just caught the graphic on Sportsnet out of the corner of my eye and wasn't sure if it said first 6-goal game since or first 6-goal game against since (and didn't feel like researching)

Imagine what to do when zajac and Boyle is healthy?

Stafford too...
Hayes will come out. and I don't know who else. Probably Noesen. But then who? Wood?

Hall - Zacha - Palmieri
Johansson - Hischier - Stafford/Bratt
Henrique - Zajac - Bratt/Stafford
Gibbons - Boyle - Coleman

Damn thats sick.
Still have Wood Hayes Noesen Quenneville Blandisi McLeod Speers too....

Colorado might have been the toughest team NJ faced so far.

No. Toronto was by a mile.

Hischier easily had his worst game tonight.

I was thinking that and Hall wasn't the best Devil either. Which is a good thing if you are a Devils fan. The team played a collectively good game. They forced the Leafs into mistakes with their speed and puck pressure and they capitalized. They were protecting a 3rd period lead, and they had 2, 2 man disadvantages against this game. Citing the shot clock really tells me who watched the game, and who did not. Devils were the better team tonight. They made less mistakes, they were hard on the puck in all zones, and they made the saves and plays for goals that counted. Devils fans have plenty right to be excited and proud of their team's performance.

Devils are still exciting......

they're so exciting, they beat the Leafs who are supposed to be the most dominant team on the face of the galaxy....(Just kidding)

I would LOVE to see how incredible a Playoff Series between the two teams would be.

Palmeri also had a very forgettable game.

Basically agree with this post all the way.

Hischier easily had his worst game tonight.

He might of had his worst game, but he still played okay IMO. That moment in the first period where he was struggling against Matthews going down the rink I actually thought was a really smart play. Moore makes a pretty bad pinch there and Matthews sneaks behind him but Nico tracks him the entire way and defends him well enough to get help. That was a subtle, smart play and last year that probably would have been a goal against. He wasn't controlling play as much this game, but he still had flashes of it.

The fact that Hischier went head to head against Matthews is precisely why most people here think Hischier had a bad game. I've already taken the mismatch into consideration. Matthews is the second best young player in the game, and among the best centers in the league already. He made Hischier look foolish at times, but that is to be expected considering the difference in skill, size and experience.

Take that away and Hischier's talent was really noticeable out there. He isn't always going to go head to head against a player of Matthews' caliber, and when the norm happens, his skills will really be on display. I think Hischier has the potential to be the best player of the 2016 and 2017 drafts collectively after Matthews.

Devils are a fun team but even more importantly they can translate their speed and skill into wins. Hope they keep it up going forward

I think this is the meat-and-potatoes difference between the two teams.

The leafs goaltender is solid but Cory is still levels above him.

If the Leafs had Cory, I think they'd be thinking ECF(at least) and beyond, this year....

Looking forward to the next meeting.....

The trades Shero has pulled off is a big reason the team is looking as dynamic as it does right now.

Hall, Palms, and Mojo all on very good deals going the other way.

I'm still struggling to figure out how the Ducks gave up Palms for so little.

Hi, HF.

Please don't pay us any attention, hype us up or give us any recognition. We do a lot better when everybody just forgets about us. Please continue to believe we're boring and underestimate us.

Thank you, kindly.

Username checks out.

Go Devils, say hi to Bleedred for me.

I don't understand why Leafs fans are so mad about their first loss of the season.
It was a very frustrating culmination of some very frustrating tendencies. But to your point, I sometimes think that there's a portion of the fanbase that don't know how to be a fan without suffering. They even managed to be miserable in Matthews' debut. In a stretch where all the three youngsters were torching the league and we kept winning, they were miserable because we had the wrong depth defensemen on our bottom pairing. It's very odd.

Devils matched them and even outperformed at even strength tonight.
Looking at the stats, Leafs actually had a substantial edge at even strength. That might happen when one team is in the league and can just wait for the inevitable screw up.

I'm so happy to see Schneider look like himself again after last season. He's one of the best goaltenders in the league in my opinion.

I'd like to look at the shot chart to be honest. Yes they outshot the Devils, it didn't feel like they got many high scoring opportunities IMO. I thought a saw a lot of point shots where Schneider saw the puck clean with no traffic in front. If that's the case, out Corsi us all day.

I think the difference was that there was traffic in front of Anderson. Maybe you could say he should of had Gibbon's goal, but I think it's a little hard to fault him for the rest, even Coleman's goal.
