Glad they won, but NJ would take us in a 7 game series. They are far better than the Rangers. Hughes is impressive. His skating and puck control is on another level. Kakko and Laff are still busts. Chytil is more impressive. Chytil seems like a guy that would fit in with the Devils. Skates hard and fast and an underrated shot.
Let me know when you change your name to NJDfan

Devils game thread is salty as f***. I say game thread b/c that poverty franchise's board doesn't have postgame threads.

They're starting their descent back to earth. They're a solid team and the overall improvement from last season is enviable and even unimaginable in some ways, but that D-core and goaltending will eventually get exposed. The good thing for them is they pretty much already booked a ticket to the playoffs and like us last season will be playing with house money
They are a very good and fast team but I also think they will struggle in the playoffs.

It’s virtually impossible to keep up that pace. It’s been f***ing impressive no doubt. This is a team that has no prior playoff experience or pedigree coming into this year. It counts for something as things get late. The Devils are only going to get stronger in the coming years which is scary

Hopefully the Rangers stole some of their mojo tonight.

Kinda felt like the devils let that one slip away. Also kinda felt like a game we won a lot of last year.

I dunno. 4 game win streak. But some glaring deficiencies. But 4 game win streak.

Hopefully the boys are turning a corner here

I'm surprised it was that high.

We're literally scraping by... I do not see the team getting better... wins and points are coming though... do not be deceived.

There's so much disfunction at 5v5 I dont even know where to start. This team doesn't have it... I just have a hard time foreseeing any type of improvement with the current regime and roster.

We're never in this without that Kreider goal. He does it again and again. He is the best.
My concern is that last year he was clearly the leader on and off the ice. This year... They appear rudderless.

He should have been given the C... He was the captain.

Gave Chytil, Trocheck, and Kakko the stars but Igor kept them in it with a real big save on Hughes.

Thats 4 in a row, with 3 wins against some of the best teams in the league.

Maybe Troubas worst game as a Ranger. He was brutal in the first. Indecisive, and made some panic decisions with the puck resulting turnovers. It’s so weird with Trouba. He does some great things. Some nights he looks like Dion Phaneuf. Other nights he looks like Igor Ulanov. When he is off though, it’s ugly. Really ugly.

Hat tip to Vincent Trocheck. He is becoming one of my favorite NYR players. Consistent efforts. Feel like he is a player you win with down the stretch and into the playoffs. I love that he was messing with Kakko after the goal on the bench. Feel like you never see the team interacting with Kakko like that. Would like to see more of that from the rest of the core vet guys. Little things that go a long way.

The kids have now produced in 3 of the last 4 games. Granted two of those games they were with Zika eked. Keep that kid line together and Bump them into the top 6. Drop Panarin to the 3rd line and play Kreider with Zibanejad again.

if they continue to win the top targets via trade should be a RW for the top line and a #3LD.

2 Losses in a row for the Devils, and 3 losses in their last 5.
Hughes managed another 7 shots. That‘s 15 shots in 2 games vs the Rangers. Kid has scary talent. Very apparent that he is the most skilled player every time he is on the ice.
