You're entitled to that opinion, and you may be right, however it is my opinion that Matthews does not win the Rocket with a Leaf RW other than Marner.
A good rhetoric has evidence to prove their opinion... I asked you to tell me the goals that aren't scored by Matthews without Marner and you ignored it.

So I go through the video again to itemize 12 (example) goals where Marner got the primary assist with a solid play, so you can tell me another player could have and would have made the same play? Yea I think I'll pass on that offer. But thanks.

He’s a failure and so is Matthews. Choked us right out of playoffs again. It’s beyond them a team full of soft chokers. Just put 30 Threads on the first page saying “Chokers” don’t comment in any and go enjoy summer without wasting time on them losers.

It’s a team of cowards. Not cool. Done with them until changes happen actually. They are a embarrassment. I won’t tell anyone that doesn’t know already that they are my my team ha. Seriously

I’m getting tired of seeing that play and it being interpreted wrong. It’s so f***ing stupid.
He wasn’t scared to take a hit ffs. He could have easily braced and pinned the puck. It wasn’t Tom Wilson charging in on him and he panics.

That play is just the same dumb shit that led to his puck over the glass penalty. He is thinking offence and trying to read the ice, you see him try to catch who is breaking out of the zone and look to the point to see if the Habs D is closing in. Meanwhile he loses the other two Habs forwards that are zooming in on him. It’s just the usual thing that he and Auston get burnt on too much: being too cute with the puck.

Many would disagree with your assessment

They see what they want to see.
They want to see a coward but I see a player who has rocks in his head at times as he thinks he is the god of offence. Mitch is a pro and he has taken a million hits and knows how to brace for a hit against 5 foot nine Brendan Gallagher. The narrative is dumb but it won’t die. It’s honestly laughable to think a pro player is scared to take a hit from tiny Gallagher.

Enjoy the cash boys cause you can earn lots of it but money can't buy you this and it is due to your me-first attitude that screwed the team over. So suck on this.

Yeah those posting that aren’t really understanding what’s going on. He’s anticipating Bogosian wrapping the puck around the boards but he fanned on it.

And it's 5'9" Gallagher he's avoiding.
Do you think he was expecting Bogosian to play it that softly around the boards?
Looks to me like he was anticipating it coming around harder.

Willy has been criticized many times for avoiding contact to make a play...players do that quite often because they don't want to be hit...it's nothing new, but to do it in a do or die game 7 down 1-0 in his own zone, and for the amount of cash he's being paid is pathetic and unacceptable....and 6 of his last 7 penalties in the playoffs is for puck-over-glass delay-of-game...but he's so awesome.

It is irrelevant what he is thinking or not thinking .. bottom line he saw Bogo pass puck softly not wire it .. and he made a physical decision to turn away from protecting his puck (as closest Leaf to puck) in his own end .. everyone learns by ATOM hockey (as I taught it directly to Mitch) in your own end you protect your net first (you can think offense in other teams end sure but not your end) .. call it how you want either a TERRIBLE defensive play by a player supposedly good in his own end (which he isn't) OR scared sh*tless of getting hammered .. I asked my kid who played with Mitch for years and he said "you know dad Mitch can't handle that" .. and that is da truth he can't physically manage getting wrecked as he has tried over da years here and there and always gets badly hurt .. so you have to ask yourself do you want Mitch laying on ice with a separated shoulder or do what he did??????????????????

Sounds like you had your mind made up already and you won’t look at it objectively. I see a poorly executed normal breakout that was intended to put the team on offence; Bogosian was under no pressure. I have no problem calling Mitch soft if it applies but I don’t see it here. On first glance people might get the impression he bails because of pressure but if you look a little closer it seems like there is a bit more to it than that.
Also: I do not believe in the slightest you have taught Mitch Marner anything. I have read your stories and I take them as seriously as the guy who says he is best friends with Salming and Shane Corson.

He was clearly looking at Bogosian make the clearing attempt so I'd have thought he would have realized that he didn't send it hard. He also takes a glance over his shoulder at where Gallagher is and then changes his path to the left instead of to the right.

It's a split second thing, but I see a case could be made that he saw #11 and veered away from potentially getting rammed into the boards.

Looked to me that he looked away just as the puck was being played not after seeing the pass made. Marner does this stuff quite often, anticipating where the puck will end up. IMO, that's all he was doing here.

Guess it's open to interpretation given that the whole thing took place in 4-5 seconds.

If not cowardly then just stupid, does it really matter? Either way, a player with his talent and experience deserves to be raked over the coals for that play.

Stupid indeed and he deserves scorn no doubt.
I suppose it only matters just as a possible defence of reality. You can still dislike Marner and want him traded even if you feel that this play wasn’t an example of cowardice.

Yeah I’m not sure what you’re watching but if you were trying to create offence would you not take a proper angle to the puck and rifle it up the boards/ice?

Instead he takes a poor angle to avoid contact
