I will reserve judgement until mid August - early September when the team looks set. But, barring Treliving pulling a rabbit out of his hat kind of miracle, I can’t see them going past the 1st round.

Brendan must actually think it’s the fringe of the roster that creates a roadblock in the post season, not the Corpse–4. As the character–less quartet did, among one another, while embarrassing itself in the exit interviews with media. None of Tavares, Nylander, Marner or Matthews acknowledged a shred of responsibility for the fold–up against Florida, the eventual Eastern champion. They only spoke lovingly of “wanting to stay together”, lest there be inconvenience in their private lives. Like knuckleheads, management is apparently bowing to that command yet again.

Made me laugh then made me a little sad cause these character traits are not what I had envisioned when we drafted these guys and add JT. What a disappointment.

Mr November didnt grow up in a “hockey culture” and I think that‘s a reason why he hasn’t shown that extra gear.

For those of us that grew up with Paul Henderson and then the Canadian Junior program we were enthralled by the effort, second effort and third effort , so it’s easy to understand why he doesn’t have that engrained in him.

I know in the US, it’s probably the same in Canada, but the focus is not on a team concept, but individualism.

Teams cursed, but at least at this point it's obvious and anything beyond a 1st round ownage is a pleasant surprise.

At this rate of progression, by the end of Matthews/Marner/Nylander's careers they will have gotten to game 7 in the 2nd round (wooooooooahhhhh)

Nah man. I wouldn’t go that far, they’ll definitely make it. The team will get their 100 + points in the standings as will Matthews and Marner production wise.... and JT and Will Nye will get between 75-80 points, but, then come playoff time, they’ll turn into Cinderella at midnight and run away like they usually do.

I remember when we were promised that the only way they could ever have success was to tank and rebuild.

They executed the tank well. After drafting 88,16 and 34, signing Tavares was an end to the "rebuild" and they have been trying to surround them with the right supporting cast. The beginning of the end was the hiring of Dubas.
