I'm just here for the cheeky/petty thread title.
I’d appreciate if you included San Jose in that groupNot sure what they do now. They could nuke the roster into oblivion but it'll be hard to out tank Chicago, Arizona, and (potentially) Montreal for the Bedard lottery.
More likely they go on a huge win streak in the second half of the season and just miss the playoffs.More likely they finish last and pick somewhere else
this is my biggest fearMore likely they go on a huge win streak in the second half of the season and just miss the playoffs.
There is definitely quality there but too much of the same.
At forward there is a severe lack of players who can provide quality penalty killing. A whole bunch of guys who are offense first, powerplay guys.
Maybe pettersson provides decent defense but his faceoff ability is poor for a centre. Horvat and Miller are good on faceoffs but surprisingly poor penalty killers.
Pearson has the smarts but is too slow. He is also the main culprit in the box most nights.
Mikhayev is probably the only forst unit guy we have.
The defense is mediocre at the best of times but also shares the same issue. Hughes, Ekman Larson, Myers, Dermott, Rathbone, Poolman all want to go forward but aren't fantastic in their own end. That OEL trade was such a poor decision. As was the Poolman signing.
Schenn and Stillman are probably your most likely candidates for more traditional defenders but shouldn't be on your team's opening night starting 6 if you have aspirations to be a competitive playoff team.
Once again a poor crop to choose from for the pk. Very low percentage last year and again this year.
Miller is a very good player but is also a big baby with attitude problems. He constantly whines and complains about everything. He reminds me of a young Taylor Hall but worse... He is most definitely part of the issue with the Canucks. I can only imagine what it must be next to that guy in the locker room.Miller is complete poison, lol. And he's here for 8 more years. Would unironically trade him for Loui Eriksson at this point
to be fair daniel wagner is a dork who writes for "vancouver is awesome" and mostly writes negative storys/circulates negative rumors.Miller seems like such an unlikeable guy.
It is literally the business these reports are in to ask and get answers to these kinds of questions
This is straight up bullshit.I get you’re saying “out of the Pacific”, but people who see that forward group and think it’s arguably good at all aren’t seeing things the way I see them. They have never earned anything to be called good. It’s the total opposite. People should have learned a long time ago that narrative was dogshit. Maybe, just maybe, it’s a small chance they will realize that their forwards are the worst in the league by far. No one should ever be looking at that roster and thinking oh man, that’s a really good forward group. They are what they have proven to be. A joke.
It's still true. There's something rotten in the organization/locker room). Our D may be suspect but this is not BAD hockey team. At least not as bad as they're playing.Am I dreaming or did Canucks fans not swear they had a bunch of good players / decent core. Hate to see it
Gonna have to press the reset button in Canucks land me thinks
The Canucks forward group has no balance. They have lots of the same thing. It’s like they’re put together on EA Sports, only focusing on offensive skill attributes. They’ve had a lead in 5 of the 6 games, the problem is they can’t play a lick of defence and aren’t helping each other. Arguably the second most balanced forward group in the Pacific behind Calgary, yet that means nothing if you’re not willing to play defence
Like I said, jerk vibes.
he's def a guy thats super intense and everyone loves it when things are going well...that visible emotion is leadership when on a tear like they went on last year. and then he looks like an ahole when they arent going well and the emotion people see is frustration. not everyone is gonna be a fan i get that but in this case i mean....what do you want him to say? air out the dirty laundry of a conversation between two frustrated teammates? question never shoulda been asked
The question can be asked, but there are things that need to stay on the ice or in the room.
This happens all the time. What’s the fear?this is my biggest fear
Every single time something like this happens it’s brought up, and usually the answer is something better than “mins your own business” when the guys business is literally to find out…i mean it can be. personally i think out of respect it shouldn't be but that doesn't mean i can expect everyone else to think that way, there's no rule against it. there's no point either, not going to answer. i dont know the context of how it was asked or how familiar the reporter / jt are, but it seems like the kinda question you ask trying to needle a guy and get him to snap for a good soundbite
like i said, there's not rule against asking. my personal feeling is in a situation like this - a heated exchange btw teammates - its not something that needs to be brought up publicly. players aren't going to air that out anyway, the only reason i can see for why anyone would ask was to bait a reactionEvery single time something like this happens it’s brought up, and usually the answer is something better than “mins your own business” when the guys business is literally to find out…
When they gave up a goal after the empty net goal, I was like yikes. That team look absolutely defeated and just didn't care rather than still playing for their goalie. It's still true. There's something rotten in the organization/locker room). Our D may be suspect but this is not BAD hockey team. At least not as bad as they're playing.
