I get you’re saying “out of the Pacific”, but people who see that forward group and think it’s arguably good at all aren’t seeing things the way I see them. They have never earned anything to be called good. It’s the total opposite. People should have learned a long time ago that narrative was dogshit. Maybe, just maybe, it’s a small chance they will realize that their forwards are the worst in the league by far. No one should ever be looking at that roster and thinking oh man, that’s a really good forward group. They are what they have proven to be. A joke.

A multi goal lead is only because teams don’t take them seriously. They know with a little pressure they will buckle. I am flabbergasted people are still defending the worst, softest, mentally weak forward core in NHL history.

Writing this from Arizona, I think you might want to pump the brakes a bit on those comments.

2014-2015 Leafs vibes to them early. Ugly. Ownership/Management/Coaching/Players/Media/Fans. Almost everyone hated everyone else by the end of that year in Toronto.

Patrik Allvin quietly walks up to the podium in Bridgestone Arena and quietly whispers into the mic: "we'll take Connor Bedard, thanks."

Vancouver is not a real sports city, easy to dupe locals into believing in the team

There is definitely quality there but too much of the same.

At forward there is a severe lack of players who can provide quality penalty killing. A whole bunch of guys who are offense first, powerplay guys.

Maybe pettersson provides decent defense but his faceoff ability is poor for a centre. Horvat and Miller are good on faceoffs but surprisingly poor penalty killers.

Pearson has the smarts but is too slow. He is also the main culprit in the box most nights.

Mikhayev is probably the only forst unit guy we have.

The defense is mediocre at the best of times but also shares the same issue. Hughes, Ekman Larson, Myers, Dermott, Rathbone, Poolman all want to go forward but aren't fantastic in their own end. That OEL trade was such a poor decision. As was the Poolman signing.

Schenn and Stillman are probably your most likely candidates for more traditional defenders but shouldn't be on your team's opening night starting 6 if you have aspirations to be a competitive playoff team.

Once again a poor crop to choose from for the pk. Very low percentage last year and again this year.

Reminds me of Buffalo with Kane, Eichel, ROR, Risto, etc. Good individual talent, but no one willing to put the team first. The problem is the most talented on the team can't stomach the idea that the less talented have a better approach to the game.

Well, the real fans who are knowledgeable in Vancouver have been calling for a full tear down for a while now. We have tried to retool and this has gotten us to a place where we no longer have the patience, this was the home opener. We just hired another rookie GM and guys like this without the experience in a market like this will panic or get eaten alive. The real problem starts at the top with ownership and I don’t see them escaping this time around, this will hurt their pocketbook as they don’t have a Green or Benning to throw under the bus.

Exciting times

Travis Green and Jim Benning have left a curse on the team.

Naw this is all Jim Benning.
Never should’ve hired that fat bastard from Boston, Boston model my ass.

Our child abusing owner bought into the hype, and he gave that idiot the keys to right the ship and here we are.

f*** Benning and his incompetence

The panthers core was so soft they had to trade a bunch of it away :sarcasm:

Didn't someone make a pre-season thread about them having the best forward group in the league? Where's that guy now?
Pre-ordering a Canucks Connor Bedard jersey.

As much as a hate the Canucks, I was one of the few who thought they would be competitive and squeak into the playoffs. Looks like I'm going to be quite wrong about that. Suddenly, there's a special kind of stink coming from that franchise and it's hard to exactly say whats causing it. We all know their defense is bad but there's obviously more problems then that alone! Nobody on that roster looks confident right now.

Not sure what they do now. They could nuke the roster into oblivion but it'll be hard to out tank Chicago, Arizona, and (potentially) Montreal for the Bedard lottery.
