The Canucks are quietly the only team to not win a game so far

Isnt it obvious? They are tanking for Bedard

I expect a firesale around the deadline... except Hughes and a few others.

Miller wasnt given a NTC. Miller, Horvat, Garland traded. Must also take OEL

Things you love to read from your pending UFA captain lol

Why purposely cut out the context? He's pretty obviously talking about the perspective of fans.

"My jersey got thrown on the ice last year and I'll never forget that for as long as I play," Canuck captain Bo Horvat recalled. "It's something that hits home, and when you see it again happening this year, it definitely sucks. But I understand their frustration.

We haven't really given them much to cheer about.
It's been a lot of years in the rebuild stage and. . . at this point in the season, it just feels like it's never going to happen, like we’re never going to win again."

Mark Messier for GM

The team can't be much more despised than it already is. Let's go all out with hatred and try something completely out of left field. Imagine the redemption arc if Messier can construct a successful team and lead the Canucks to their first championship.

The fan threw a jersey on the ice lol
Miller and his family was also harrassed by overzealous fans when they were at a pumpkin patch this wknd. I dont blame his response tbh. I dont like his performance six games in, but leave the jeering at the stadium.

If by 'they', you are also referring to fans and media, then you would be correct. Pretty much everybody wanted Tanev gone, his play was declining and incredibly injury prone when he was with the Canucks. You'd also be a fool to think that Tanev's game would get better if he stayed with the Canucks; he'd probably be retired on LTIR.
Not sure where you are getting this from. Tanev was a quality Canuck for nearly a decade. He was a respected player who gave a consistent effort. He was one of the only Canucks during that timeline that could even check other teams top players. Not to mention he was a good locker room presence and seem to gel with every player her partnered with.

Losing Chris Tanev, an undrafted late bloomers that we developed ourselves, tanked our penalty kill. Not calling Chris Tanev to even talk about an extension tanked our managements reputation with the team. Losing Chris Tanev was the straw that broke the camels back.

Benning and his dimwitted friend Weisbrod were responsible for this mess. I dont see both those clowns ever working as GM or assistant GM ever again. Only dumbo Aqualini was dumb enough to hire them

Besides getting a welfare spot in the bubble playoffs, what have the Canucks really done the last 10sh years?

Even the last few. I guess just signing the same guys to long term deals will really do the trick this time.

Basically, how is is some of their players "peak". Does that "peak" beat out Colorado, etc in a 7 game series?

If they hired Messier as GM, the fans would tie up Fin, steal his t-shirt bazookas, and begin to pepper Rogers Arena with every generation of sweater the Canucks have ever worn.

The greatest hockey player to ever wear a Canucks uniform. I bet he could be a good GM for them. Can't get any worse. Would give them some auto credibility.

People being bothered by Miller’s comments is so typical. Meanwhile when Horvat is like “It feels like we’ll never win again! 😭” nobody bats an eye. Miller cares. Yes he’s been really bad, but I’d rather the players be pissed off, which he clearly is, than be feeling sorry for themselves.

Actually only 5 players on that team were on the cup team.

MacKinnon
Landeskog
EJ
Compher
Rantanen (who was a rookie).

Everyone else is different. Things actually didn't start to turn around for us until after the Duchene trade which changed the culture of the team and MacKinnon took off after that. Then of course Makar etc etc.
That's a fair point and I appreciate you bringing it up. But I will still point out that it includes basically your entire top line (I know they don't play together as much anymore), so there's still a substantive carryover. But I will definitely acknowledge that I would have guessed there were more like 9 or 10 players still there.

The OEL trade cemented the Canucks as being destined to long term mediocrity and not the good type of mediocrity either
This. There were still options to handle it better but this was a poison pill. I always thought they could move a player + 1st + asset to get out of the OEL deal because it is buyout friendly but after seeing them spend a second to get rid of dickinson who isnt even in the same realm of problem we are hooped.

Still think we could burn it down though. Miller could still get moved this year.

It's like watching the Burke and Nonis era-Leafs. Just complete whiplash. Go pick someone in the Top 10 (and to their credit, Vancouver nailed it with guys like Pettersson and Hughes), and then two weeks later invest in depth pieces to long-term contracts.

That only serves to raise the floor and not move the ceiling. And then the ceiling doesn't move and so they go out and get names or re-sign pieces to long-term deals after players have peaked.

And the team just stays mediocre and the fans are losing their shit screaming REBUILD louder than they've ever screamed SHOOT on a powerplay, and the frustration gets so pronounced you start reading WAY too much into quotes and body language and good players get viewed in a worse light in an insane market and then THEY resent it and resent management and ownership for not improving the team and they pull the chute when the going gets tough so the fans gets MORE pissed and eventually everyone hates each other and even the frigging media gets exhausted by it all.
