Kopitar/Gabo need someone like Justin Williams/Brown that can keep up with them.

Pearson's skill set reminds me of Justin Williams in his younger years.

i don't know anymore, i've entered that apocalyptic mode. i guess sutter will not keep brown and kopi together even if it works next game. pearson & kopi, right now? same ****. it doesn't matter, we'll loose anyway.

On the PP there were a handful of occasions where he was screening the goalie perfectly and our point men were just playing catch at the top until Muzzin decided to shoot the puck into someones gear. It's frustrating just watching them pass without even looking up at the net. If they're trying to lure a defenseman up to the point, they have to at least make a threat of a shot. Without that threat, the defensemen will just stay in the shooting lanes and wait for us to shoot it into them. Look up, be a threat and hey, maybe even use the screen and take a shot every once in a while.
 
I just don't like Lucic on that top line. Kopitar doesn't need (space) He creates that all on his own.

Kopitar is a possession BEAST, he doesn't need space, Defenders give Kopitar loads of space, cause he simply takes the OUTSIDE EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Kopitar needs to start forcing his way inside.
 
I like Pearson up there and Lucic on the 2nd line. Carts plays with more of an edge and becomes more involved whenever Pearson or Toffs throw it around and I think that given time with Lucic that we would see the same thing happen only with a little more grit. Lucic will figure out his game with us and will be an impact player in a dozen games or so. So will the rest of the team for that matter. We lost Regehr Richards Stoll Voynov Willie the kid goatlender'traitor and 5 of those guys where critical pieces to our team winning it all. We have replaced them with a neandrathol (who I like allot but think we overpaid for) in Lucic a Dman coming back from an off year in Ehrhoff a goalie trying to stay in the NHL in Enroth and some kids.

It is going to take time for everything to work out but when it does we will be right there among the best in the league again. I am not worried even a little bit. Truth be told I am only worried in the way that Grandpaw has been coaching the team last season and on into the start of this one. No doubt about it Gramps is a great coach and one of the saltiest men around and has earned his time with us but he sure seems to be a step behind things more than he was when he first got here. Not blaming him for anything just saying that he concerns me at times. Even then I think we have a great shot at it all this year as I have been saying all along.
 
All in all I like that Brown has been bumped back up with Kopitar. Brown by far has been the Kings best winger so far.

And both were pretty great goals (Eichel).

That said his two way game isn't very good so far. Allot of floating around. Not as bad as McJebus but not good either.
 
McDavid has been down right terrible in his end. A two-way Center ? he is not even close haha. I mean I question if McDavid even knows there is 200ft of ice.

Makes me appreciate Kopitar even more.

Wait, this can't be right. I was told that Brown and Lewis were the reasons Kopitar had an off year last season.
Don't worry Kopitar is one of the top-5 centers in the NHL.

I am starting to wonder what type of possession beast Kopitar would be if he started taking the puck to areas where the other team doesn't want it to go.

The only person stopping Kopitar from producing, is Kopitar himself.

Kopitar posses all the tools, and he knows how to use them. He just has to be willing to use them.

I think Kopitar can produce another 30+G 45+A season. He just has to be (WILLING) to take the hits/slashes/Punishment to do it.

The 09-10 season, Kopitar was the most dangerous player on the ice nightly. At 28 years of age, he should be able to do it again.
 
kopi is aware of what he is capable of. the problem in this regard is the system. sutter is the boss, kopi must play as he is playing now, and he's trying to adapt even for the sake of his own talent. i'm not saying there's an issue here between sutter and kopi, it's just how it goes, it's the nature of the game, no democracy here. plus, are there any matrix kung fu style implants for kopi and lucic? i think they both need one, and quick.

I don't think Sutter has any issue with Kopi shooting more.

Brown getting showcased for a trade. :naughty:

Brown played like **** for an entire year which lead directly to the Lucic trade. if you want to complain about Lucic look right at Brown.

He's been playing great. He is tied for first in scoring on the team with 1 point after 2 games. His skating/hustle look better, but those weren't the problem with Brown's game.

What system do you people keep referring too ? The system Terry Murray put in place years ago that the Kings still run, and that Kopitar scored career highs in ? That system ?

Cause Sutter has made small tweaks(like fore-check wise) it's the same system though.

A system that is like 70+ years old.

People keep blaming ( A system) or Sutter's (system) Which Sutter doesn't even have one.

Sutter even commented on that after 2012 cup run. It's the Same system folks, with minor tweaks.

Sutter on changes to the system:

Especially with a young team, it has to be firm and clear. They have to be allowed to use their ability. That’s the biggest thing that I’ve found here.”

“When you break it down, [adding aggressive play on the puck to a solid defensive system is] how the best teams play,” added Sutter. “You have to be good defenders, but you have to be able to play that transition.”

So much for the "Sutter doesn't want creative hockey" crowd.

in this case hierachy system. first franchise, coach, team, lines, players last... no democracy here. and kopi adapted. the analysis must go the same way, vertically down.

What are you even talking about ? Are you saying the decline in Kopitars play is because the Kings made him do it ? Out of some sort of Hierachy ?
 
I haven't heard of a system yet that requires a player to NOT go hard to the net.
