Have any of you rowed before? I agreed to join a team with some buddies of mine for an annual event this year. It's actually North America's oldest annual sporting event. I've been practicing at the gym just to get the motions down and all is good but the seats on the row machine at the gym move. The seats in the actual boat are fixed. My first practice is today and I'm concerned it's going to be difficult. Any tips?

I've never rowed, but rowing machines are a damn good workout.

In reality... Nickelback is a stale derivative of a derivative. They offer nothing creative or that pushes the boundaries sonically, technically, or lyricly. Their songs are also incredibly formulaic and solely designed to get his on rock radio. Combine that with Chad Kroeger being a ****** and a ***** along with their popularity, you have the exact formula to have a massively hated band.

A lot of my friends love Nickelback, and I give them crap for it... but they just want power chords and simple lyrics around women and partying. Nothing really wrong with that, just not my cup of tea.

I'm taking my daughter to a concert tonight, in the Springs:

Dying Blynd (local band, never seen 'em)
Over The Castle (all-girl band from Castle Rock, never seen 'em)
The Nearly Deads
Bad Seed Rising
Eyes Set To Kill

Other concerts coming to the Springs over the next couple months that I'll be going to:

Icon For Hire

Xandria

Knee High Fox

Wednesday 13

Stitched Up Heart

September Mourning

NOT Nickelback!!!
(nor Chevelle, nor Breaking Benjamin...)

I'd much rather spend the money to make memories with my daughter, than spend the money to simply buy her things...

I saw Breaking Benjamin last week, I guess I'm stupid for still liking guitar driven music :dunno:

I don't see where anybody said that. There is a lot of great guitar driven music... from indie to blues to rock to metal... it doesn't all fit into that post-grunge of BB, STP, Nickelback, Creed, Foo Fighters, etc. I'm a big fan of the Foo Fighters in that genre... STP had a couple albums I liked.

Lumping in the Foo Fighters with those bands just looks wrong.

As far as post-grunge goes, Seether is a favorite of mine.

I really does seem that way, but they did start the whole post grunge movement. I haven't even thought of Seether in forever... I never minded them.

I don't disagree with any of that, but nobody is bashing the likes of Katy Perry for pumping out generic pop songs. I mean that whole thing can be re-tweaked by changing a few words and taking out the asshat part.

Nickelback isn't a top 10 or even top 20 band of mine, but I imagine he probably puts on a pretty good live show.

Agreed. Great album.

Changing subjects a bit: what the hell is the problem with the escalators at DIA? I can't remember the last time I went there and at least a couple of them weren't broken.
