Bought a truck today. A 2017 f150. Used trucks are so silly expensive right now but my 02' toyota dying put me in a tough place. Glad I found something that was at least somewhat of a reasonable price with less than 75k miles.
The price of trucks are insane right now. We also had to replace our 2002 Chevy 2500 last year. The cost was more than twice of the old one and we even got a lesser model. I also hate how tall all of the new trucks are now as well. I understand you obviously want and need some clearance, but it feels like I'm climbing into a damn monster truck now.

Dang maybe I should sell my Titan. Not sure my sprinter van would be much of a replacement for a truck though

Truck/car prices are insane. My mom bought a 2015(?) Tundra like 2 years ago and can make a pretty decent profit off it. Insanity.

What the flying f*** do you all need trucks for?
Trucks simply have a ton of utility, and with how they are built today, they can be easily used as family vehicles. Say you have 3 kids who all play hockey... throw all the equipment in the bed and if you have a crew cab, they all easily fit. Need to make a Home Depot run for a bunch of plywood, all fits. Need 1500lbs of rock for a landscaping project, it works. Need to pack up the family for a vacation, they all fit... plus all their shit. Need to pull a 24' camper, yeah it can do that. Your buddy cheated on his wife and needs to move in a rush... it works for that too.

Trucks just simply fit with the lifestyle of many Americans, they are a Swiss army knife of a vehicle, Americans have the space, and fuel is cheap.

Appreciate the cultural look at it. Sure, that all sounds very Middle American to me. It's sort of interesting how different it is to the "utility" view of someone like me, obviously given the gas and space considerations and all that. And not only that, also just how differently car manufacturers are valued between the US and Northern Europe.
