NHL 17 beta is garbage, IMO. First NHL game I will not be purchasing since who even knows. Think I've had every one since NHL 94. Same game since '15. Whole development team needs a complete overhaul.

Its funny because I've read thousands of reviews and your the only one who said its garbage.

I absolutely hated the hitting in '16. I could hardly ever line someone up...and when I did 9 times out of 10 I just kind of bounced off them. Perhaps it was too easy in '15 (not that I felt it was) but they definitely overcompensated last year. Besides scoring goals or making a sick pass, throwing a monster hit was a highlight of the game and they totally killed that.

I tried liking NHL 16, but everything about the controls just felt awkward.

From momentum, to hitting, to trying to start a fight and having less time after the whistle, everything just felt too... loose. I'm not sure if I know any other way to describe it.

At this point, I've gone back to NHL 14 and my year 2021 Be a GM dynasty.

I would stay away from Apple if you are gaming. They run hot and the graphics cards aren't exactly powerful. The slim line cases that they have offer no ventilation. I played Diablo 3 on my Macbook and I could fry a steak on it after I was done. (exaggeration)

I don't know that I really agree or disagree with this statement. I played D3 on my Macbook pro and yeah it got hot. I had a cooling fan that I put underneath it. If you speak to anyone at apple they will tell you that it isn't advisable to keep your computer sitting on a bed or something like that as it won't vent well and get very hot.

It's not really what they are for. There are very few games even written to work with Macs.

This is most definitely false. I can't remember the last major game that got released that wasn't compatible with OS X. Maybe some of your indie titles won't run but I ended up downloading parallels and running Windows as well. It allows you to do so much from one machine.

I crush nubs with WuKong on a 2012 Mac Mini.

I haven't tried the beta, but did they fix the EASHL player type thing yet? Choosing from those pre-set classes completely took all the fun away from building your own character.

Not really. There are more classes to choose from.

They have not gone back to building up your player attribute by attritbute though.

I thought it was a huge gameplay improvement over NHL 16. It feels a lot different. I specifically played it right before and after playing NHL 16 multiple times, it is absolutely not the same game.

A lot of different animations, unique goalie animations, players cant unrealistically stop on a dime and spin and stuff your momentum actually matters.

Idk, personally I really liked it and I'm psyched for the full game to come out.

No Man's Sky being garbage really hurts my soul.

And my wallet.

I wouldn't call it garbage. It hasn't lived up to expectations, sure, but for what it is it's a good game.

It was hyped like the Jimmy Vesey of video games.

It takes the worst aspects of Minecraft, Destiny, and Spore and puts them all together.

That doesn't even delve into all the performance issues I'm having that any title this new shouldn't be.

Different perspective - as someone who's never played those other games, NMS has been a pretty fun way for me to kill an hour here and there, and I think the visuals alone are worth the price of admission.

If there are any similar games that are just as nice to look at and also incorporate the space travel stuff, I'd be down to try those out. Any recommendations? Although I have to say that I don't really like the action/shooting aspects of similar games. I lose interest in NMS when ships are chasing me and shooting at me, I just wanna explore

The story of Spore itself made me hesitant to even pay attention to No Mans Sky. Some screenshots i've seen make it look better than I thought it'd be.

Right now i'm getting back into Overwatch for the upcoming season. Who here plays?

No Man's Sky doesn't look good at all IMO. The aesthetic is nice and colorful though and I can see the artistic appeal but the engine is just ok, and the bare minimum of a AAA title nowadays (I know it's not one but it fancies itself as one and Sony marketed it as one). Reminds me of Mirror's Edge Catalyst in that the graphics aren't good in a technical spence but the aesthetic is perfect.

It's hard to recommend the game you're asking for because the fast majority of them are not appealing and heinously unoriginal. Closest it comes to is the space stage of Spore which is good for nothing but mindless giggles.

I was itching to get No Man's Sky the second it dropped before I realized there was no multi-player, that it's essentially a $60 Minecraft, and after watching numerous streamers have their games constantly crashing. For $60, regardless if it's made by a big studio/billed as a AAA title, one streamer said this: You're paying for the polish, and that if it was a $20 game he would have been far less inclined to complain about the crashes, general wonkiness of some quest line (something with Atlas stones), and other general undeveloped story points/game play points. With Thanksgiving/Christmas right around the corner, you might as well get a refund and re-buy it when the tab is knocked down 60 or 70%.

Has anyone tried I Am Setsuna? That's another game that I'm waiting for the price to drop. All I hear is that it's super disappointing in the sense that it touted itself as some kind of successor to Chrono Trigger.

Yeah, I'm not too knowledgeable on the technical aspects of graphics, so I guess it's really just the colors and the idea of travelling around an infinite universe that I like. Just the feeling of being on a really cool looking planet and looking up and seeing 3 other giant planets is pretty intense, at least for me. But I do like the fact that it all looks at least sort of realistic? As opposed to something like Spore that looks like a cartoon. I'm not doing a very good job of explaining myself here  Basically, I'm not sure that the things I like about No Man's Sky exist in any other game, at least not yet.

In all honesty, NMS is so unique in the seamless planrlet surface to space to planet surface travel it's amazing. Not to mention all the exploration and species you can find. If that's what you're looking for in a game, as I was, it's hard to be disappointed. I also wasn't on the hype train from the beginning, so that could be part of it too.

I have read the opposite on I am Setsuna. I was thinking about getting it as well. As far as the Chrono Trigger successor thing... I think it was billed more of a Chrono Triggeresque game play. You know, old school 90's JRPG type.

Also, I am actually happy that Final Fantasy XV has been delayed. This game is so big for the future of the RPG genre as a whole and even SE as a company that it needs to succeed. If they have to take 2 more months in order to make sure the game is 100% polished rather than rush shipping out some BS game, I am all for it.

For those of you that love Humble Bundle and have a PS3 you're gonna loveeeeeeeeeeee the newest deal. Easily the best one the site has ever offered.
