OT: The All-Purpose Video Game Thread: Part II

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Get a PS4, trade it in to get a discounted ps5 when it releases. GoW is worth it alone but there are so many other exclusive titles worth playing.

PS5 is probably going to get released next year if you want to wait for that. But I made the switch back from Xbox to PlayStation about 2 years ago and it’s been so much better. Xbox’s whole strategy lately has just been to make the beefier system, but not pay up to get exclusives (or they end up cancelling the ones in production)

Does it matter if I get a slim or pro in your opinion? Only bc the new 1 should be out next year. Yeah there's a lot better game selection to choose from and they even have a real legitimate baseball game. That Detroit game you mentioned previously I remember seeing looked awesome too. Xbox is kinda like Sea of Thieves and IDK what else honestly.

I agree about them worrying about having the most powerful console system thats out and not enough about their current or future lineup. You seem very happy with your decision. I just don't know if I should buy one now or wait, that's my only dilemma as I'm done with Xbox. I can live without Halo.

The pro will net you better trade in value but unless you're realllllyyyyyy crazy about higher performance, the slim should be just fine.

Detroit was something that I thought I'd hate. It's not for everyone but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Maybe, but weren't they just cloaked in black like half assed grim reapers? Plus that scene is pretty early in the game and I don't think the clones showed up until your first trip to Nibelheim, though I don't expect the game to be a direct copy of the original story wise.

My thought was they were pissed off spirits from the reactor that just blew up (Aeris senses and sees shit that other people can't) but that doesn't really make sense either.

Whatever they are, I am excited for this.

2020 looking good so far - This, Cyberpunk, P5R, and more than likely Last of Us 2

Everything I’ve seen says that the first part will be out in March, so I’m assuming it’ll still be split up

Just watched it again, maybe it’s the Turks since it seems like they’re after Aeris
 
Wasteland 3 and Cyberpunk. Going to be a good year for RPG's.

Says the guy who almost never plays them:D
 
Oh damn? I didn't expect Watch Dogs 3 gameplay right off the bat.

I thought it would just be a trailer.

Likely. Remember, this is a remake, not a remaster. They are going to be taking some liberties and while the core parts of the story won't be changed, you can expected a lot of other changes.

Yes. It is still going to be split or "episodic".

My guess is spirits of the Cetra or some form of the black cloaked Reunion people. The Reunion people were injected with Jenova cells and are trying to reconverge after the Nibelheim event which happened in a flashback. The wiki says that Sephiroth initiated the Reunion 5 years after the Nibelheim event when Cloud and Tifa met up again (the beginning of the game more or less), which pre-dates him meeting Aeris and would explain those being the Reunion people.

From the wiki:
"The survivors of Nibelheim, including Cloud Strife and Zack Fair (and excluding Tifa Lockhart, who had been rescued before Shinra arrived), were rounded up and injected with Sephiroth cells, Sephiroth having merged with Jenova cells while still in the womb. The subjects were exposed to Mako in a procedure similar to the augmentation done to SOLDIER members. As the Nibelheim survivors did not have the mental or physical strength to keep their sense of self, they became mindless puppets devoted to Jenova and Sephiroth called Sephiroth Clones."

If they have the instinct that Aeris is a threat to Jenova's life now that she has met up with someone who is strong(ish) enough to resist the draw of the Reunion and is also fighting against that and Jenova's goal of converging, it would make sense they would be going after her/them. They showed the ghastly forms that some people ended up in after being exposed to Mako during the Nibelheim scene. I don't think it's too far-fetched to say that some people could have turned into those things.
