That is a strange comment to make (timing wise) given that they just released a trailer and said they will be doing a huge reveal at E3. If it was a few weeks ago, I would understand given the complete lack of information for a few years.

I feel like you and I have discussed this before in other threads. Normally I’d trust a legit trailer and “big info coming at E3”.

But not for Square Enix. Their word is useless haha.

I will echo your excitement though!

I started playing Funal Fantasy X this weekend. I’ve always wanted to play it, but for some reason I never got around to it. I feel like I’m decently far into it, but probably not that far in the grand scheme of things, it’s fun, but man there’s soooo many cutscenes

I’m incredibly jealous.

FFX was my first RPG as a young 10 year old, and it will forever be my favorite game. What I would give to experience playing it for the first time again.

Occasionally I’ll YouTube the start menu music and listen on repeat. Gives me goosebumps.

Well, normally I would agree. But this isn't just any game and I think they know they are treading on thin ice after some of their recent fiasco's. A company can't survive having every AAA title take 10 years to develop. Additionally, Square Enix financial suggest they are budgeting for 40-50 billion yen of revenue later this year, I think Q3. That would suggest a AAA title being released. Combined with the trailer teaser and major E3 announcement, I do have a hard time imagining they are going to mess around too much.

Mi'ihen highroad, Besaid theme and Sprouting are three of my favorite musical tracks ever.
Ah, here it is. Some of the visual released in 2017. I don’t think these are all of them, and it appears it was screen shots and not a trailer.

Yeah. The visuals.. weren't much. Although I have little faith in SE, I do think they are going to come through big this year.

I think my first was FF7, and I was probably too young because I had no idea what to do and probably just played through the first reactor like at least 20 times. Then I got like Tony Hawk or something and didn’t go back for a long time, but then I downloaded it on a computer and actually played through the whole thing. Outside of playing FFX now and FF7, I think I’ve only played like 10-15 hours of FF8 and FF15 and not a second of any of the other ones

I think 9 is worth playing. It’s really good.

I also loved 12, but some people don’t. It doesn’t have the magical, nostalgic vibe that most FF games do (you could tell they intentionally tried to go back to this for 13), but the amount of content is incredible. The world is also huge - they clearly were taking a lot from the MMO book, since it was fresh in their mind from FFXI. Secrets areas, dozens of “mini bosses” that would spawn in regular areas under special circumstances, and fully customizable parties.

Oh wow, so you’re expecting something this year?

Jeez I hope you’re right. That would be incredible.

VII was my first as well and I had the exact same thing happen. It was the first game I had for my new playstation and I had no idea what a memory card was. I would get past the reactor and try to save, never being able to

I love XII as well. I actually feel opposite, it has more of a magical, nostalgic vibe than IX or XIII do IMO. Rabanstre is such a beautiful city.

I really am. The only way it isn't being released is if that influx of revenue is from the mysterious Avengers title. However, there has been less released about that game than FF7 so I am doubtful it is the Avengers.

FF7 will always be my favorite because the look/feel is very much in my wheelhouse.

FF9 remains my second favorite.

But my favorite Square Enix game is probably Super Mario RPG. Something about that game just struck all the right chords for me.

A game that should have been a failure was an absolute masterpiece. Booster's tower may be my favorite part of any game, ever.

That game is the poster child for the KISS philosophy. It is what makes games great.

Have you ever played FF6? A bit different kind of atmosphere compared to 7 - maybe a bit more steampunk than FF7's 'Blade runner' aesthetic. But FF6 has an absolutely fantastic soundtrack that resonates with you for weeks after playing the game. The story is compelling and the characters are all likable and unique. For sure my favorite.

Super Mario RPG is also so completely polished and fun. Not quite hard enough but perfect 'pop corn' affair.

12 is severely underrated.

What's great about it is that you don't have to commit 80 hours into playing through it. 15 hours of perfectly paced Super Mario brand RPG fun.
Ehh... I think you get 20 at the very least.
15-20 either way is a very nice length. As much as I love Persona 5, sometimes an 80 game turns from fun to grind by hour 50 and you like ok let's just get to the end.

FF 7 was great I just replayed FF 9 for the first time in years and really underrated how good that game was. FF 6 will probably always be one of my favorites

I also liked Super Mario RPG. Another solid good one for me.

Now another favorite of mine was Chrono Trigger. If they can do a remake of this and do it the right way not like Secret of Mana I can then die in peace.

I wish I could get into FF6 the way apparently everyone else has. The game never drew me in despite trying it about 5 separate times. Maybe 6th time will be a charm.
