Would the Bruins trade us Swayman (Knight got 4.5aav so Swayman will too) and Reilly (3aav in the AHL) for Vejmelka with max retention (1.375aav)? Leaves them with an equally strong tandem the next two seasons (they can’t be thinking longer term than that) and gives us a goalie of the future, without sacrificing any picks/prospects.

Kraken win first ever playoff series!! Knock of defending champs.

Two teams who are going to have to scramble a bit this offseason.
1. I really think Boston will be able to keep the band together. PIT just did this. But they can't have a 9m goalie tandem. They will either move Ullmark (signs point to this, especially if Ullmark is upset not getting to start game 7) which will give them room to sign at least one of Orlov and Bertuzzi, or they will trade Swayman. Man oh man would I love to be able to get Swayman.

I think the more likely scenario is a team who is going for it now makes the move to upgrade for one of these goalies though. But I think we can benefit from this. I think EDM needs to be careful with pushing all their chips in to Skinner. I dont think he is the reason they beat the Kings, and if anything was the reason why the Kings were able to stay in most games. Is Samsonov really the answer for TOR? What about OTT and WPG (if they move Hellebuyck). Did the Kings see enough of Korpisalo? All of those teams could want to dump their current expensive goaltender, besides WPG obviously, and we could help facilitate that.

Now what the hell will COL do? They have no secondary scoring, may lose Nichushkin and I'm not convinced they are in love with their goalie situation. They should have a fully healthy Makar and Landgeskog next season, but will that be enough without Nichushkin?

This was not Boston from regular season
This was not Florida from regular season. The first round is when you see the big upsets. A lot of hype and pressure in that first round. Going forward the teams start to settle down. NHL playoffs are the best.

Absolutely unbelievable. The Leafs are so lucky that Florida won. It seems this is Toronto’s destiny year.
Why is everyone so surprised. It's NHL playoffs and there are always, or most times anyway upsets in the first round. Florida was the only team that beat the Bruins twice this year. Florida is a very good team, just didn't have their expected regular season.

Congratulations @AZviaNJ !

I thought this would be the year the Devils learned a few lessons during a 1st round defeat.... WRONG!

I suppose there's still some remnants of the excellence from the past floating around they ingested over the course of their 1st round win.....perhaps Marty B was in the ear of your goalie last night.

Dallas and Seattle series looks to be really entertaining. Y Gourde wins it OT. Nothing better than playoff hockey. So entertaining. Playoff basketball not so much.

Is that the guy Makar knocked out? What a cheap shot.
I'm giving him a pass. Doesn't seem to fit his profile and I believe he said he didn't hear the whistle....which is a little more believable during playoff hockey.

I've been very interested in watching Morgan Geekie for obvious reasons. Reminds me a bit of Bjugstad....isn't super aggressive but he doesn't shy away from contact. I was surprised to see him getting power play time and playing on a line with J Schwartz (nice pass from Geekie to Schwartz on the first goal). Perhaps both of those in part because of McCann's injury? If his brother can handle similar physical play and be a higher skill player (only judging by their respective draft position) we might be very pleased in a few years.

If I can trust the old scouting report I found from Morgan Geekie's draft year he was only 167 lbs and now up to 192-200. I think that's roughly Conor's current weight. If we have A 230 lb Conor Geekie in 5 years that could be pretty sweet.

LOL, the only thing worse than watching basketball after watching hockey, is watching it after playing hockey… so slow.

he said he didn't hear the whistle.

Most convicts will tell you they are innocent. :)

Here's why Makar is full of shit.

1. He's directly behind McCann and sees him shoot the puck, which deflects out of play.
2. Assuming he didn't know the puck went out of play, the distance from the shot (which he had to see) and where he hit McCann is over 20 ft. In other words, extremely late.
3. McCann's body language shows that he knew the play was dead; he was not expecting a hit and, thus, not protecting himself. Makar knows all of this.

How would you sleep after scoring 4 goals but losing the game?
Like a baby. We only control what we control. I'm rooting for Vegasl, but Edmonton didn't lose due to Draisitl. They lost due to poor team composition. Suspect 3rd and 4th lines, suspect goalie.
