Did anyone watch the Section 31 movie? Reviews are terrible. Of course they had to work Rachel Garrett in because....nostalgia,

It was very anti-Trek. I hope we don't have to see Georgieu ever again. I like Michelle Yoah, but this movie wasted her talents.

I watched it again and it sucks. No idea what they were doing.

Section 31 could have been interesting but they made it into a bad cartoon

That's what they did for a Section 31 movie? Sheesh. A Section 31 movie should've just been a thriller involving some good starfleet officer being recruited to do some dirty job(like subvert a diplomatic event or something). Just like how Bashir was in DS9.

Granted, I don't really believe Section 31 was more than a few guys. I just don't understand why a superpower like the Federation needs something like section 31. Look at all the evil admirals, heh. If Section 31 is suppose to be this real thing you think they would tell them to chill and not upset Starfleet's command structure.

Section 31 was always a dumb writer's gimmick that only worked (insofar as it did work, it's a frankly overrated arc) for a handful of episodes in one series and has in every other case been utter garbage.

You know that the writing is terrible when they keep using and try to redeem an irredeemable character because said character is played by a recognizable and charismatic actor that people like.

Another sign of terrible writing is trying to ape the James Gunn Guardians of the Galaxy movies without understanding how and why the characters dynamics worked. Having a monster as the protagonist certainly wasn't part of the formula.

Section 31 would have probably been worst than even The Acolyte if it had been a series like it was originally planned. They were most likely forced to scale it down to a TV movie because Michelle Yeoh won an Academy Award which led her to increase her salary demands. If she is to star in a terrible production than she might as well pocket as much as she can.

Need someone in charge of Trek that doesn't find Trek embarrassing.

This should be easy. Starship + adventures. They're all too... complicated. Even SNW (which i like) is so tied to the Pike thing that it casts a shadow.

What they really should do is either can this Starfleet Academy, or "Flash/Blue Beetle" release it and then put Star Trek to bed for 4-5 years ("how can you miss me if I don't go away?" as the man in my avatar always said was used in the days of wrestling territories, and in comics to build up anticipation for a character coming back).

Come back in like 2029 or 2030 and have it be about the adventures of the NCC-1701-I, skip #NotMyEnterprise-G and one other starship, and set it like 50-60 years in the future. The G and H don't have to be referenced much other than a statue in a ready room or destroyed or have some over dramatic nonsense, both served long and productive times and were retired.

Fresh start. Keep the nostalgia and previous series references to a minimum or in a similar fashion to the first few years of TNG, and since this is going to be a massive Enterprise bigger than the F, a lot of the CGI can be used to make the ship appear massive or episodes not only about exploration, but the characters aboard this massive structure.

You'll get another Kirk and Spock and you'll like it.

As I have stated before. The problem with the current guys that crate all these different Star Trek is that the first thing they did was toss out what was called the Star Trek bible created by DC Fontana and Walter Koenig. It was a physical book. I am not sure of it was Koenig or Takei who went to retrieve the book only to be told it was gone. Part of the problem starts with Eurgene "Rod" Roddenberry and he has his own agenda for what goes on
