I was scoreboard watching too and somehow Carolina let in 7 goals to the Kraken last month.
This is the team we want players from?

See how stupid that sounds @cptjeff
Seven to the Kraken, Six to the Ducks, six to the Avs, five to the Preds

Maybe when they finally get an elite defensive defenceman like Jaccob Slavin they'll stop being so porous amirite

Look at the standings. What's that offensive superstar doing for you?

Defense wins championships, and Slavin is every bit as good at erasing goals as McDavid is at creating them.

No lol

There's no assets in the league that is worth McDavid on a one-for-one Trade, besides maybe Bedard

Slavin is a solid defenseman, but this take is mindblowingly bad

Imagine having a team of really good players but zero gamebreakers.

AND THEN SAYING NO TO A TRADE FOR A PLAYER WHO HAS THE MOST POINTS IN THE LEAGUE OVER THE LAST DECADE :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Why? Slavins Defense is worth more than McDavid's offense, and he Hurricanes success the past 5 years kinds of proves that doesn't it?

Why? Slavins Defense is worth more than McDavids Offense. And our past success kind of proves that.

Past Success says different.

Which past success?

I don't remember Slavin winning anything. I remember McDavid pretty Much owning the league tho

That’s why Slavin’s best season is where he finished 5th in Norris voting, right? Lmao.

What success? I don't recall any cups or cup appearances. Think you made it out of the second round once.

Washington, DC.
you're 8-5 and lost to the Ducks bro, calm down there bigtime. You made a stupid statement and doubled down and are rightfully getting called out for it. No need to get so emotional.
The Canes have a significantly better playoff record than the Oilers. Offense is sexy but the Oilers sure get drummed out of the playoffs pretty early because they can't defend.

McDavid is the best forward in the league, we get it. But having the best forward in the league gets you very little marginal value over having the 20th best forward in the league. Having elite defense gets you a lot of marginal value.

You love McDavid, he's literally the only positive thing the entire city of Edmonton has going for it, and are emotionally hurt that not everybody sees him as worth destroying their team for. I get it. But McDavid will never win a cup unless he plays on a team that can play defense at an elite level.

It's an easy yes for Carolina. They immediately replace Aho with McDavid as their #1 C, and while their defense looks a lot worse without Slavin, it's still good enough to get by.

and yet with all this focus on defence, Carolina hasn't gotten anything done and somehow keeps getting let down by their goalies and can't even make a cup final, let alone win one. Maybe your defence isn't as good as you think it is?

What in the world are you talking about? You literally just made that up in your head.

I have never been to Edmonton and don't care if the Oilers cease to exist tomorrow. Connor McDavid is on a completely different plane of value than Jaccob Slavin, and with good reason.

The past success of getting exactly 0 Stanley cups in their career too?
How many conference has Edmonton Sniffed in the past 5 years?

2019 - Canes - Conference finals; Oilers missed playoffs
2020 - Canes - won qualifying round lost first round - Oilers - Lost Qualifying Round
2021 - Canes - Lost Semi-finals won one round - Oilers Lost First Round
2022 - Canes - Lost Semi-Finals won one Round - Oilers Lost Conference finals won 2 round
2023 - Canes - Lost Conference finals won two rounds - Oilers Lost Semi-Finals won 1 round.

And it's no secret the Hockey experts say the Eastern Conferences is the toughest of the 2 conferences.

FWIW, it hasn’t really been like that. It’s more a matter of back-to-back-to-back exits against god-mode Vasilevskiy, god-mode Shesterkin, and “somehow Palpatine has returned” Bobrovsky. Not much to be done about that, regardless of what you’re bringing defensively.

Anyway, just a nitpick. Carry on.

god this place has gone downhill.

McDavid is playing with two separate upper body injuries after carrying this team on his back for almost a decade. Go for a walk and come back smarter.
Then Maybe McDavid needs to sit out and heal, if he is hurting the team because he can't or refuses to play defense then maybe he should sit until he is healed and can play a complete game.

if the hockey experts say it must be true, never mind the last two cup winners have been from the west
